The picture that they include in the article is pretty freakish, and I doubt that this is a picture of the "suspended" dog. The concept would allow for the possibility of a wide range of uses. We could "suspend" people who have a critical illness that we can't yet solve. We could use this technology for long space travel. We might just want to freeze ourselves so we can see what the future is like...

SCIENTISTS have created eerie zombie dogs, reanimating the canines after several hours of clinical death in attempts to develop suspended animation for humans.
