Bizarre: The Oak Ridge Boys Cover…The White Stripes?
As you folks can probably tell I’ve been busy the last couple of days and haven’t been blogging much. That’s because I’ve been celebrating my Scandinavian heritage at the Hostfest, the nation’s largest Scandinavian festival which just happens to take place in my hometown.
Karl Rove was inducted into the Scandinavian hall of fame this year, which was pretty cool especially since I got to meet him. But something else happened while I was at the festival. I was following my wife around the exhibits and found myself humming along to the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.” Then I stopped and considered why I was humming along.
The song was being performed. At a Scandinavian heritage festival. By the Oak Ridge Boys.
Apparently the ORB covered the tune on their latest album. Here’s what it sounds like:
Not exactly Cash covering Nine Inch Nails, but not awful either I guess. The best part of the live performance? Right after this song they went straight to “Elvira.”
Now that’s a set list. Tags: Domestic Issues, North Dakota News, Politics
