They did much the same with the perfectly good word “liberal"… at least until Ronald Reagan made them pay for their linguistic presumptuousness.  Reading through the comments of some of our leftwing commenters here at SAB you’ll see the very same tactic employed over and over again.

Another thing that annoys me is how all the “white people” get lumped into the same ethnic group.  As if there weren’t any differences between Norwegians and Russians.

Also, what if I said that Harlem needed to be more diverse?  Wouldn’t I be called a racist?  (Just to be clear, I don’t really care what the racial makeup of Harlem’s citizens is.)

Recent historical discoveries point to the fact that the Russians of yore were/are of Viking stock.

One wonders how countries like Japan and South Korea have been so successful with absolutely no racial diversity.

Japan and South Korea aren’t very ethnically diverse, but America is (overall) very ethnically diverse.  Asians.  Africans.  Italians.  Irish.  Russians.  Germans.  Noregians.  Swedes.  Middle easterners.

America is at least, if not more, economically successful than both Japan and South Korea (and on a much longer time line too) so what does that tell us?

Maybe that diversity doesn’t matter, and the real key to success and affluence is just freedom.

Gee - According to a study by a Harvard political scientist - diversity causes more harm than good to society in general - so is that what the editors want? Truth is they are toking on the same multicultural worshipping pipe along the rest of the liberal media. Check out Europe and read the “diversity news” that doesn’t make the mainstream press & you’ll quickly find that not only Putnam’s study correct but also “diversity” has caused an huge upsurge in crime- especially rape, flaming “carbeques”, welfare roles, etc. etc. But I’m not supposed to mention that - ‘cuz taking off the rose colored glasses and telling the truth is “racist”.

The difference between now and a century ago was that, in the latter case, people coming here wanted to assimilate fully into the population (with minor exceptions).  Now, people want society to cater to them.  The NY driver’s license test is given in over 100 languages.  Moslems living in England want Sharia law to predominate among themselves. And, of course, most want some sort of special status assigned to them for Affirmative Action quotas.

This happens not becauee of diversity but because these ‘diverse’ people are all Americns representing American not some special class.

I totally agree. The liberal idea that exposure to other cultures will somehow rid us of our prejudices has proven to be a failure.
Anyway, what is wrong with North Dakota as it is. The people are warm, friendly and trusting.

Actually, since most other cultures are far more prejudiced than ours, they should be learning from us.  So-called “diversity” mandates actually prevent that from happening.

You want to see provincial chauvinism?

Travel around in China, Vietnam, India or many other third world nations.

They make Americans look like continental sophisticates.

KenMc: This is because almost all other cultures are still rooted in tribalism, unlike the US.  Of course, the lefties want to recreate the joys of tribalism right here, by dividing us into groups, who would have to compete with each other for govt favors.  Nice.  PC “diversity” is actually racism.
