Bin Laden Sought To Run Joint Operations With Iraq Before 9/11

Kind of speaks for itself…

Newsmax – An Iraqi intelligence document released last week indicates that Osama bin Laden sought to conduct “joint operations” with Saddam Hussein’s regime six years before the 9/11 attacks – and was given the green light by the Iraqi dictator.
The document, detailed in the March 27 issue of the Weekly Standard, describes a Feb. 1995 meeting between bin Laden and Iraqi intelligence that was personally approved by “the Honorable Presidency” – an apparent reference to Saddam. . . .
The document indicates that Saddam personally granted bin Laden’s request for help with propaganda broadcasts and instructed his agents “to develop the relationship [with bin Laden] and the cooperation between the two sides to see what other doors of cooperation and agreement open up.”

Translation of the full document available here.
As I’ve said before, the more information that comes from these Iraq/Afghanistan documents the more I believe the President’s decision to go to war in Iraq will be vindicated.

2h9: He is doing the only thing the lefties can do with this material: casting doubt. He is ready to believe that there was no connection at all between two of the world’s major Islamic megalomaniac terrorists, but now that it’s being shown, he wants it examined under an electron microscope, so to speak. Typical leftie spin. He probably still believes the phony National Guard story.

What would the President,Vice President, or Sec.of State know about documents seized in Iraq? Other than what the translators are releasing? Do those 3 individuals know how to read Arabic? Or are you suggesting they had prior knowledge of the contents of these documents? Or is it that you have greater confidence in their word than in the word of translators working for them? Your comment is a bit unclear, mcairhead. Clearity, please.

Seth: Here’s my guess: The lefties will demand that the President verify these documents in detail, and if he does, they will accuse him of using them for political purposes. Let’s watch.

  • mcair

All I’m seeking is official sanction on these documents. Newsmax is bullshit.

"Typical leftie spin. He probably still believes the phony National Guard story." God you’re a bore.

Aw, fudge, that didn’t work. Here’s a link to that story about Bush wanting the docs released:

Is that authoratative enough for you McCair?

rob- Now we are up to three sources. This afternoon I heard on the radio there was only one source and that ABC put a disclaimer on the reports. Too bad NBC didn’t do the same for the forged Air National Guard documents. I wonder how many independent sources will be required before the MSM publishes this connection as fact without the * ?

Has any credible source come out with confirmation yet? Any questions been asked of the President, Vice President of Sec. of State regarding these documents? Any questions regarding their veracity? The last link I saw was all handwritten stuff on very poor-quality photocopies.

mcair: I feel your pain. A whole raft of leftie talking points are about to be flushed down the sh*tter, because there are literally millions of these documents. Boredom is a form of fear, btw.

I am waiting for notification that I can pick up these docs on disc. No word yet, may be 30-60 days. Alot of these pieces are hand written and photocopied too boot, don’t know how well they will be read by computer translator program. We will see.

Rob, Thanks for the correction. I can admit a mistake. It was Dan Rather and Mapes, correct? I worked with the early DOS computers in the late 70s at our guard base and knew that they couldn’t wrap around and insert hyper- ths.

The president was asked about the documents in a meeting, and he said they were to be released. Sure enough, they were released not too long after that. Is that enough confirmation mccair?

By the way McCair, here’s a link to the story where it states that Bush wanted the documents released.

That was CBS, but good point.

Some in the media will never report on these documents without couching it in skepticism, warranted or not.
