Bill Ayers Admits Friendship With Obama - Irony Abounds

In a Chicago Tribune story, William Ayers came clean about his relationship with Barack Obama. But in typical leftie style, blamed Barama’s “political enemies” of being dishonest!

In a new afterword to his memoir, 1960s radical William Ayers describes himself as a “family friend” of President-elect Barack Obama and writes that the campaign controversy over their relationship was an effort by Obama’s political enemies to “deepen a dishonest narrative” about the candidate.

Let me see…Ayers and Obama were close friends, lied about it and their opponents are the ones deepening the dishonest narrative. Riiiiight! And I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you!  America has purchased the proverbial pig-in-a-poke. And very few of us are going to be living high on the hog!

But, I thought Ayers was just some guy in his neighborhood?

Yeah,

Along with Minister Louis Farrakhan who lives a block away.

Sounds like a great neighborhood.

Wonder what you get trick or treating.

A pipe bomb at the Ayers house and a Fez at Farrakhan’s.

Does this really surprise anyone? Lying is direct from the leftist playbook.

Well, Republicans hardly have a monopoly on truthfulness, but tu quoque is hardly a valid excuse here.

Seriously, this ranks up there with “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” and “I am not a crook” in terms of Presidential moments of dishonesty.

It surprises me that Ayers would come clean so quickly. Maybe it’s to avoid the “I told you so’s” when he shows up at the coronation, er, inauguration.

By Proof on November 13, 2008 at 06:55 pm

Proof. I am interested in buying this bridge. I recently changed from being a retired taxpayer to a bank. This is affording me millions if not billions of unearned income courtesy of the US taxpayer. Having come upon such bonanza I am on a buying spree. I give millions to my kids in bonuses, dividends worth millions to my relatives, hunting trips to my buddies and resort stays at premier spas to all my ex girlfriends and their families.

Elinas,

Are you sure you weren’t a politician previously?

Sounds like some of the perks that they get.

I am interested in buying this bridge.

It’s only open for viewing during rush hour.

Hopefully, you will not be put off by my car strangled spanner!

Proof.Rush hour is fine with me. Gotta rush before Bush, Paulsen, and their Democratic cheerlealers change their minds. But I doubt it.

It also says:

In the updated version of his 2001 book “Fugitive Days,” Ayers calls into question one of the more incendiary quotes attributed to him during the campaign: “I’m nowadays often quoted as saying, ‘I don’t regret setting bombs. I wish we’d set more bombs. I don’t think we did enough.’

“I never actually said that I ‘set bombs,’ nor that I wished there were ‘more bombs.’ ... I killed no one, and I harmed no one, and I didn’t regret for a minute resisting the murderous assault on Viet Nam with every ounce of my being.”

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” ~Theodore Roosevelt

“I never actually said that I ‘set bombs,’ nor that I wished there were ‘more bombs.’

Now he’s just mincing words. And what exactly does that have to do with the lies that he and Obama perpetrated during the campaign?

As prosecutors are wont to say, Was he lying then or is he lying now?

Ayers is clearly re-interpreting history for his own benefit:

’‘I don’t regret setting bombs,’’ Bill Ayers said. ‘‘I feel we didn’t do enough.’’ Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970’s as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago. The long curly locks in his Wanted poster are shorn, though he wears earrings. He still has tattooed on his neck the rainbow-and-lightning Weathermen logo that appeared on letters taking responsibility for bombings.

He wishes he and his fellow terrorist had done more than just set bombs.

And this guy was a family friend of the Obamas.

All i can tell you is I read “Fugitive Days.” I think he was pretty clear there. If you haven’t had a chance to read it, you need to pick it up.

Sodd is a traditional Norwegian meal consisting of a mutton soup. Usually vegetables such as potatoes and/or carrots also are included. It is often a part of festive activities in the middle parts of Norway.

Beloved Rodney. I do not eat mutton if that is what you meant. If you meant something else, please explain.

The people who elected Obama would not care if he was a member of the staff at the Kremlin they are so enamored with his American idol persona , and they have been sold a defective product and one that will lie to get what he wants, a lot of them don’t even know who was running with him and did not care if it were Castro him self . Now we pay and pay and pay. Have fun!

Ellinas,

Have you ever managed to read any of Mr. Ayers books? He is a very illuminating writer. Quite bright, the bomb, some might say. They are truly dynamite.

di butler on November 15, 2008 at 10:40 am

di butler. I never read any of Ayers books. He may be all those qualities you ascribe to him, but I do not read autobiographies.
