Big Announcement

Share |

This isn’t really anything earth-shattering as my girl and I have been talking about it for a while now, but since we went ahead and announced to my parents tonight I thought I’d share it with all of you as well.
Come this next summer (in August, probably) Jess and I are going to get married.
It’ll be the second time around for me, her first time. Really, though, it’s been a forgone conclusion for some time now. We just get along way too good together. She’s good to me and my daughter. She cooks. She cleans. She’s a hard worker, and she tolerates the inordinate amount of time I spend working/blogging.
I really don’t think I could find a better girl if I spent 100 more years looking.
So, anyway, wish us luck as we head down the road of preparing for this thing. Honestly, I wish now we could just fast-forward to the honeymoon.

Grats, Rob – just do me a favor and don’t make too many little conservatives, alright? :D

Then why ruin a good thing?
    :)

    Congrats to you both!

    Oh frabjous day! Cahloo! Cahlay!

Finding “the one” is an amazing thing. Remember to enjoy it; after all, you only get married for the second time once.

    &heellip; It looks like my Blog Father, Rob Port, is getting married! My advice for dad is too treat the lady with respect by buying her a million’s worth of gold necklaces and pearls. It’s not the thought the counts, but the money spent. &heellip;

You forgot the fact that she’s a looker too. Congrats!

I heard the sound of a thousand hearts breaking…this obviously explains it. Well done Rob and good luck!

    Mazel Tov, dude!

Personally, I’ve never seen the attraction to state-santcioned monogamy, but if that’s your thing I say congratulations and good luck.

Someday ALL Americans who wish to will be able to enter into this civil contract.

I love hearing that the people I love to read are doing well. Congrats!

And once you find the Fast-Forward button to the Honeymoon, remember that the Pause button is the one right next to it…

  24. Kirk Leggott on November 3rd, 2005 at 2:12 am

    Rob,

Congrats to you and Jess. I can speak from experience that sometimes one must marry badly once in order to marry well the next time around. May you and your intended have a long and blessed life together.

And for those who don’t see the point of “state-sanctioned monogamy”, remember, it was sanctioned by God first. The state only recognized what God had already established. If you still don’t get this, there are lots of liberal blogs where your comments will be much more welcome.

  25. Carrick on November 3rd, 2005 at 12:11 pm

Way to go Rob! You have my blessings & encouragement to make as many ND-styled conservative progeny as you wish. Kind of makes me want to work on life extension, just so I could watch them torment Ryan for a century or so.

  26. Jess on November 3rd, 2005 at 10:11 am

Thanks for the congratulations everyone! We really appreciate it! I had to laugh at the “You only get married for the second time once.” Thanks again everyone!

  29. Don Myers on November 3rd, 2005 at 2:11 am

Sorry, Kirk, but you and I don’t worship the same god (or the same goddess, for that matter).

And I prefer to keep the state outta god’s business, and vice versa.

But you enjoy your belief system without restriction, okay—that’s what makes America so cool!

  30. Thatedeguy on November 3rd, 2005 at 3:12 am

Congrats. Having just gone through all of that last April, my sympathies as well. But it’s all worth it after the planning and paying is over.

  31. robport on November 3rd, 2005 at 10:11 am

Thanks for the kind words everybody. I really appreciate them.

And Ryan, I am quite certain that my conservative progeny will be tormenting your liberal progeny until the end of eternity.
    ;-)

  32. robport on November 3rd, 2005 at 11:11 am

Never too late to back out either for that matter.

    I ain’t backin’ out. This girl’s mine.

  33. robport on November 3rd, 2005 at 11:11 am

Back out? Why would I do that? Like I said, she cooks, cleans, works hard, cares for me, puts up with my working habits and is totally hot.

And believe you me, I’m a man who appreciates hot women.
