Berg’s Speech At GOP National Convention At 3:00pm Tomorrow
1:59pm
Update: Another change, Berg is now speaking at 3pm tomorrow.
ND Senate candidate Rick Berg was scheduled to speak to the GOP National Convention today at 2:00pm, but since today’s convention events were canceled due to the weather, Berg is speaking tomorrow at 2:00pm.
Valley News Live had previously reported, erroneously, that Berg had been wiped from the speaking schedule entirely but his campaign sent out a press release this afternoon stating that his speaking gig had merely been delayed.
That Berg’s speech was maintained in a weather-shortened convention schedule speaks to the importance Republicans place on taking North Dakota’s Senate seat. This reflects not-so-well on Berg’s opponent, Heidi Heitkamp, who won’t even be attending her party’s national convention claiming (absurdly) scheduling conflicts.
The press release from the Berg campaign is below. If you want to follow the convention online, I believe you can get live video and social media streams here.
Tags: election 2012, North Dakota News, Rick BergFargo, ND – The Berg for Senate campaign announced today that Rick Berg will address the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL on Tuesday, August 28 at approximately 2:00 pm CST.
Rick Berg was previously scheduled to deliver his remarks on Monday, August 27, but the day’s activities were postponed due to inclement weather conditions in the Tampa, FL area.
As a leader in working toward a smaller and more efficient government, reducing the debt, balancing the budget, and repealing Obamacare, Rick Berg will address the convention on the economic success model of North Dakota and the big differences presented to voters this November between the path President Obama has taken our country or the direction North Dakota has taken, which is a national leader in job growth, economic activity, and domestic energy production.
In 2010, Rick Berg defeated nine-term incumbent Rep. Earl Pomeroy with 55 percent of the vote. To date, the campaign’s success has been highlighted by a well-organized grassroots network with District Captains in each of North Dakota’s 47 legislative districts. Rick Berg will face Democrat Heidi Heitkamp in the General Election on November 6, 2012.
