Berg Outraises Heitkamp By $260,000
9:57am
Yesterday liberal Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp announced her best fundraising period to date, news that was unfortunately (for her campaign) overshadowed by new polling showing her with a 9 point deficit in the race to her opponent Rep. Rick Berg.
Today comes news that Berg beat Heitkamp in fundraising, posting his best fundraising period of the cycle. According to a press release from the Berg campaign, they’ve “raised more than $1.24 million in the second quarter of 2012 and surpassed $4 million total dollars raised.” They’re also reporting $2.2 million in cash on hand.
None of the FEC reports are out yet, and Heitkamp didn’t report a cash-on-hand figure, but given the amount of campaign and advertising activity Heitkamp has engaged in as compared to Berg (who hasn’t done much yet), my guess is that Heitkamp has far less on hand than Berg.
The fundraising quarter was 90 days long. As I reported yesterday, Heitkamp raised $10,855.55/day during the quarter. Berg’s fundraising puts him at $13777.78/day.
