Berg: Obama And Democrats Would Rather Mislead Americans Than Fix The National Debt

Written By:

Yesterday we broke the news here on SAB that Rep. Rick Berg would be co-sponsoring cut, cap and balance legislation in the House. Today Rep. Berg spoke out on the floor in favor of the legislation.

“Our country faces unprecedented debt,” says Rep. Berg, “but the Senate Democrat leadership and the Obama administration would rather raise taxes and mislead Americans with scare tactics rather than support these common sense solutions.

“Americans have tightened their belts and they’ve made the tough choices. It’s time for Washington DC to do the same.”

Yesterday Senator Kent Conrad called the cut, cap and balance effort “almost laughable” suggesting it was just kicking the can down the road.

It doesn’t sound all that laughable to me. You cut spending right now to deal with the deficits, you cap spending so that the government can’t grow faster than the overall economy and you make it the supreme law of the land that the budget must be balanced.

What’s so crazy or funny about that?
