Rep. Rick Berg was in Minot again today, this time with South Dakota Senator John Thune by his side, and took Democrat candidate Heidi Heitkamp to task on support from anti-nuclear groups.

Berg had stumped in Minot before on this issue, but this time he was backed up by Thune and more details from Heitkamp’s fundraising. Details that undermine Democrat efforts to write this off as a non-issue.

Berg’s campaign distributed flyers at the presser today (see below) detailing not just financial support from the Council for a Livable World (an group advocating nuclear disarmament) but money paid by Heitkamp for the right to solicit money directly from the group’s membership.

That’s pretty damning. This group espouses a national security agenda that most North Dakotans would find pretty far to the left of where they are at, yet clearly the group (her third largest source of contributions) is an important part of Heitkamp’s fundraising strategy.
