Berg Agrees To Three Debates, Heitkamp Campaign Talking Points Hardest Hit
10:50pm
Democrats have been trying to manufacture a narrative about Rick Berg refusing to debate his liberal opponent Heidi Heitkamp for some time now. Heitkamp and Ed Schultz teamed up to bash Berg over debates a couple of weeks ago, and more recently Democrats created a fake Twitter for a character called Rickey the Debate Dodging Chicken.
Of course, what Democrats don’t mention is that Berg had already agreed to two debates and today the Berg campaign confirmed that they’ve added another date. That works out to about one debate every three weeks between now and election day. That seems a prudent number because, frankly, these debates can be overdone as we saw during the Republican nomination process this year.
Three debates in a little over two months is plenty.
Meanwhile, though, Democrats continue to try and push the narrative about Berg ducking debates as evidenced by this tweet from Heitkamp campaign staffer Brandon Lorenz echoing far-left Fargo Forum reporter Kristen Daum:
Berg refuses to debate Farm bill MT
@kristendaum:@rickbergnd,@heidi4nd to face off 3 – & only 3 – times shar.es/7zSsR#NDsen— Brandon Lorenz (@bllorenz) August 31, 2012
I’m not sure what Lorenz’s gripe is. The subject of these debates are not limited. The farm bill can certainly be an issue brought up at all three. The truth is that Berg has agreed to a prudent number of debates despite Democrat attempts to mislead the public.
