Behold Obama’s Economic Stimulus Spending: Weatherizing Poor People’s Homes, More Foodstamps

Oh, and funding for research facilities that will do “cutting edge science.”

-$6 billion to weatherize “modest income homes.”
-$6 billion to provide internet in “underserved” areas
-$6 billion for “higher education modernization.”
-$20 billion in health information technology to “prevent medial mistakes.”
-$20 billion to increase food stamp funding
-$87 billion to provide a “temporary” increase in Medicaid funding
-$300 million to provide rebates for people who purchase Energy Star products
-$600 million for the federal government to buy brand new energy efficient cars
-$400 million for state and local governments to buy brand new energy efficient cars
-$2.4 billion for carbon capture demonstration programs
-$350 million to research using energy efficient technology on military bases
-$300 million for grants and loans to state and local governments for projects that reduce diesel emissions, “benefiting public health and reducing global warming”
-$500 million for energy efficient manufacturing demonstration projects.
-$400 million to build major research facilities “that perform cutting edge science”
-$1.5 billion for expanding “good jobs in biomedical research”

Wonderful.
Nothing stimulates the economy like government funding, at the expense of working Americans, for layabouts who can’t be bothered to weatherize their own homes.

Okay…to put this in perspective Greg, not everyone has 20 thousand dollars on hand. If people are given money to buy things they need then people have to make those things. Again it’s a cycle!!!

If people are able to spend money then people have to make the shit for them to purchase. These people are paid for their service, they take their money and buy more stuff. It continues on and on and on. The problem comes when people no longer desire a particular product and that industry fails, we have to prop up the employees of whichever failing industry so that they can buy stuff and help the cycle continue

We’re all paying for the stimulus just like we all paid for Iraq and the bailout. It would be nice to make republicans pay for it since it was their ignorance, selfishness and greed that took us to financial ruin, but we liberals are fair-minded.

I would find a way to make sure conservatives got little of the money if I was in charge. You know how they are. They’ll take their share and try and get their hands on everyone else’s.

  • Hoss

Waiting for the left to bitch about what this will do to the deficit like they have been the last 8 years when it comes to spending………crickets chirping.

Aw, you poor heartless Conservatives don’t want to feed the people, *whine, whine, sniff, sniff* because we all know weatherizing homes, providing internet, modernizing higher education,……is the exact same thing as filling an empty belly. Go peddle that pathetic drivel somewhere else.

  • http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/ goon

That is not what our money should be going to. That is bullshit.

  • carrick

    Dino:

Besides, went through this already. The generous con is a myth.

Reality is a myth to Dino.

Especially including anything that interferes with his misanthropic world view.

  • jk

Dino will be first on line with his hand out screaming HELP ME, I’M GAY and DESERVE HELP!!!

  • sayanything-4625

Two trillion bought us 6 years of no terrorist attacks at home. Money well spent. I spent 20,000 this year getting a new roof and double paned windows for my house. I didn’t need the government to give me one damned cent.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

Yeah! We should spend another $3 TRILLION FUCKING DOLLARS in Iraq!

What is wrong with you people who support spending TRILLIONS on someone else’s country but helping to feed people here makes you bristle?

There’s DEFINITELY something wrong with you people. You’re SICK.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

Sparkie, the stems would rather we step over people lying in the streets like some bad imitation of Calcutta.

Cons HATE helping people but they love to tell you how generous they are.

So tell us cons, tell us how YOU’RE really the generous ones and the liberals are the selfish ones. Tell us how much you do to help those in need.

  • Mickey

-$6 billion to weatherize “modest income homes.”

This is hardly “cutting edge thinking” but at least it is a positive approach to energy conservation.

-$6 billion to provide internet in “underserved” areas

    Sounds like technology welfare.

-$6 billion for “higher education modernization.”

Vague. Too bad most of this money will be misapprpriated into teacher salaries.

-$20 billion in health information technology to “prevent medial mistakes.”

Bush administration already set this in motion over a year ago.

-$20 billion to increase food stamp funding

    Welfare.

-$87 billion to provide a “temporary” increase in Medicaid funding

To cover up poor government management and accounting process.

-$300 million to provide rebates for people who purchase Energy Star products

Again, this is hardly “cutting edge thinking” but at least it is a positive approach to energy conservation. States have been doing this for a decade or longer.

-$600 million for the federal government to buy brand new energy efficient cars

Extravagent waste of money. They already replace their fleet on a regular basis. Give government employees a bus pass.

-$2.4 billion for carbon capture demonstration programs

Stupid waste of money. First prove with empirical evidence that carbon is a REAL problem.

-$350 million to research using energy efficient technology on military bases

    Boondoggle.

-$300 million for grants and loans to state and local governments for projects that reduce diesel emissions, “benefiting public health and reducing global warming”

Show me how to replace the trucking industry with a Prius.

-$500 million for energy efficient manufacturing demonstration projects.

It’s already being done. No manufacturing process could survive in this economy if they were wastefull.

-$400 million to build major research facilities “that perform cutting edge science”

WTF is this? Here piggy piggy piggy

-$1.5 billion for expanding “good jobs in biomedical research”

These are all six figure salary jobs with extensive education. That pretty much eliminates the average liberal.

  • loud thumb

It doesn’t matter what you think. It’s going to happen. Whine all you want. Paranoid conservatives have had their way for eight years. Move over.

  • jimmypop

Cons HATE helping people but they love to tell you how generous they are.

who earns more and who gives more? real numbers will do…..

  • carrick

Dino uses that word HATE a lot.

    Sick little fuck.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

Jimmy, why don’t you tell me? You’re the one claiming cons are more generous.

Then explain to me why they HATE seeing people helped.

Besides, went through this already. The generous con is a myth.

  • jimmypop

Jimmy, why don’t you tell me? You’re the one claiming cons are more generous.

i already did… and i gave you sources…… libs make more and give less. you may not like it, but you libs do make more and they do give less.

Then explain to me why they HATE seeing people helped.

it all depends on what you call help. you libs want their slaves back, but its illegal (i know you think it sucks, but thats the way it is now). so your goal is to keep them just fed enough to mow your lawn, but limit their ability to move away from the plantation. cons want people to be free. and to be free you need to have the ability to care for yourself. for you to do that, you need to be taught to fish not given one.

your feel good actions sounds great (who doesnt want people to do well? well, you know, except your side) and makes you all fuzzy, but long term doesnt work. cons methods can hurt BAD at the start, but long term the families are freed from the cycle of being your indentured servants. i know.. god forbid a california liberal mow his own lawn or clean his house. those cute little mexicans you people abuse are so darn handy, huh?

  • sayanything-4625

Most of this money is not going to buy food. Most is going to buy cars for the federal govt, state govt, people to buy stuff for their house, ect. Please tell me how this is going to do anything to feed the poor. That is you excuse for everything. Obama wants to spend 2 Trillion dollars. That’s 6666.66 per person in the US. That’s 26000 per four person family. Get real people we can’t afford that kind of spending. Who are we going to borrow that much money from? If we can’t borrow it we will have to print it and that will bring on inflation. I don’t want the US to turn into Zimbabwe. Bread shouldn’t cost 15 billion per loaf. Sorry if that makes me “heartless”. I just know what reality is and it is not some weird “let the government spend us out of recession” scheme. Mugabe tried it and it DOES NOT WORK.

  • sayanything-4625

The terrorists are just waiting for us to blow our wad and relax a bit

Don’t you think that more spending will cause us to blow our wad? Do you think before you type?

  • jk

Welcome to the Peoples Republic of the United States.

  • Rezistik

Right right, so if people buy food we all lose money and jobs. I am so outraged.

    How dare he create jobs….?

Seriously helping the bottom line helps everyone! Why is this an outrage? Providing money to people so they can buy food they need provides other people the chance to work…and if other people can work then they can buy stuff. See it’s kind of a cycle. When people buy stuff people have to make stuff…and then THEY buy moree stuff.

    Basic Econ.

  • sayanything-4625

You could give me 1 second of freedom from your idiotic screeching. I’m a dumbass because I can see that this “stimulus” is a pile of crap? You are a fool because you believe a corrupt Chicago Democrat is going to save us through spending. Giving money to the corrupt is not going to do squat. His Treasury Sec can’t even pay his own tax bill. This is after the IRS told him he owed the money. Somehow I am supposed to believe he is an economic genius but he can’t even pay taxes that he has been told he owes. (and I’m the dumbass) If Obama told you she shait loves and fishes you would be eating out of the bowl before it hit the water. Schmuck!

Anyone remember the old battlecry of

Millions in tribute; Not a penny for Defense?

Well, that’s not the old battlecry, which characterized 2000 years of spine, cran (guts) , ca-hone-ays, and armed resistance against the Arabs by Western civilization.

Somehow the Leftards of this generation have turned that entire concept around and are proud of that stinking yellow streak that runs down the spine of every pontificating Leftist.

Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute.

  • http://www.radiolips.blogspot.com/ devrie

I work for an agency that delivers Weatherization Assistance to people. The area I work for has been built on the housing market. We’ve seen tons of middle-class people suffer due to loss of work.

I must say, it’s AWESOME to see so many people getting jobs because of this program. Don’t limit yourself to thinking those getting this assistance are lazy folks who care not to weatherize their own homes. This program helps people get jobs. Contractors, laborers, social workers, and administrative workers are keeping and getting many more jobs now.

Furthermore, the number of people coming in to request energy assistance, another tax-funded program, is decreasing due to Weatherization Assistance. The scope is bigger then just spending. It’s a huge, worthwile investment with a very good history of positive resultes, ie. people end up getting off the system.

  • carrick

Also Dino wants to use other people’s money to “help” (aka buy their vote) people.

That’s what he thinks of as “generosity”.

And he HATES people who won’t let him take their money. Those are “stems” to our resident dirtball.

  • andophiroxia

We’re all paying for the stimulus just like we all paid for Iraq and the bailout. It would be nice to make republicans pay for it since it was their ignorance, selfishness and greed that took us to financial ruin, but we liberals are fair-minded.

Yeah, it was so terrible that your guy Obama is going to adopt it again.

I would like the Democrats to also pay for their incompetence with the CRA and the false inflation of the housing market by Dodd and Frank as well as Schumer doing the run on InBank. I would also like the Democrats to personally pay for their 9 trillion dollars of social spending in which they forcibly take money out of mine and every other hard-working American’s pocket under the guise of the “common good” when it is used to line their pockets.

However, Americans are going to apparently be under a lot of misery, so that should make you happy.

  • andophiroxia

    Mickey:

Vague. Too bad most of this money will be misapprpriated into teacher salaries.

    Or ‘administrative’ costs.

  • sayanything-4625

    Rezistik,

I didn’t have 20 grand either. I had to go out and borrow it. What gives you, the govt or anyone else to pick my pocket to give money away?

I work in manufacturing so spare me your lecture. Stealing money from one group of workers to give to another group is not going to stimulate the economy. If it did, Russia and the old Soviet bloc would be king.

I like your we have to prop up industry rant. It is so stupid I don’t even know where to begin. Why should we prop up GM. I keep hearing that if they go under we will lose millions of jobs. Where, GM doesn’t employ millions. They then said that their vendors would go under, that was a good excuse until their vendors said that if they went under it would be no big deal since they had seen the writing on the wall and had diversified away from GM over the years. My point is, no one should ever be to big to fail. Tell me, did the collapse of Montgomery-Ward kill the US Economy? How about the railroads? At one time they were to big to fail. They failed, their workers found other jobs and America rolled on with no ill effects. It will happen when GM fails too.

  • hazeylee

    Dino, you generalize too much..

We’re all paying for the stimulus just like we all paid for Iraq and the bailout

Democrats voted for Iraq Dino. As a matter of fact they are still fighting the war and voting to fund it so they should pay for it!

  • sayanything-4625

    Dino,

You are the most hate filled individual I have ever seen. I have never looked at a Gay Pride event and said I wish those people would die. You however have wished death on conservatives may times ie you wish the George Bush would sink. Listening to you talk about hate is the perfect joke.

wait, are you telling us barry is a liberal?

    Greg
Pay me 8 trillion and I will give you 100 years of freedom from flying saucers. The terrorists are just waiting for us to blow our wad and relax a bit, dumbass.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/sparkiearbuckle sayanything-81

you guys don’t whine when they blow 2.2 trillion per annum on war stuffs. of 3 trillion deposing one little dictator. and now you are all gung ho for us to pour money into afghanistan for the next god-knows-how-many years, even after the Russians have given us a demonstration of how stupid, prolonged, and crippling such an endeavor can be. carry on fuck-tards.
