Behold Edwards Manor**

The house that populism and political pandering built.

Image courtesy of Mary Katharine Ham, who also had this to say:

1) At 28,000 square feet and 100 acres, if there are two Americas, I’m sure John can pony up and house at least one of them.
2) If a Wal-Mart had wanted to clear-cut that much land in Chapel Hill, the unwashed, protesting, green masses on Franklin Street would still be screaming about it.
3) L.L. Cool J = Limousine Liberal Cool John

Listen, I got no problem with the guy being rich and spending his money how he wishes, but it is supremely obnoxious that just about every liberal politican lives like the top 1 percent they’ve been denigrating for the past six years. That 1 percent is full of George Bush’s buddies, but Democrats know none of them, right? The rich are not evil. For the most part, they are people who have worked hard at something they’re good at, and the market has deemed them worthy of healthy payment.
Sadly, John Edwards spent his working career building this luxurious life for himself from fairly humble beginnings, and he will spend the rest of his political career trying to convince the rest of America that his story is an impossibility in “George Bush’s America.”

Read the whole thing.
***Added by the Whistler***
I don’t see how Edwards can justify taking money from middle class people to give to other people. He should give away everything until he’s firmly planted in middle America and then he’ll understand how it’s not so easy supporting your own family plus a bunch of people that won’t support themselves. (As opposed to those few that are truly needy.)

Guy’s…That is weird! Don’t you suppose he has made sure all the illegals are out of there since he knew he was going to run????? OH My Gosh! That is sooooo creepy!!!

  • 2Hotel9

My real question is how many illegal aliens does he have working that stable and doing the landscaping?

  • 2Hotel9

ZZ, one of his trail tactics was to “channel” the voices of dead babies. And yep, he most likely has floor to ceiling mirrors in several rooms.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

Hmmm, I don’t know about that BUT I would imagine he has quite a few of himself, when he was a baby??? He is so fond of himself.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Wasn’t Edwards the guy who took time off from bashing Walmart to have one of his aides to try to get a PlayStation3 from the local Wal-Mart in Raleigh, NC last Christmas? (Er, sorry! Winter Solstice Time Off Thingee!)

Think from the size of these digs, he could have afforded to buy one online at a slight premium?

  • Ernest N. Bailey

    Douglas Krell,

If you don’t mind me asking, how much is your premium for malpractice insurance? How many times have you been sued and what is your history with premium rates?
I’ll understand if you don’t want to response.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

Yep, Pigrim, You are out of the race completely! Sorry BUT you don’t have the qualifications… Neiman, while I agree with you about the substance thing. I have to say the Dems are not all about image. I would say they could care less about image. It seems to me the Dems are about self centeredness and ways of making the American citizens rely on big government. Silly me, I could be all wrong. BUT that is what it seems to me??? Image just doesn’t seem to have a thing to do with it. Look at Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Barney Frank. Shall I go on?…

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

Isn’t John Edwards one of those who would encourage law suits against doctors if their baby wasn’t perfect? For some reason I want to say he specifically would hit on OBGYN doctors? I know he was an ambulance chaser, anyway… How does he hope to conquer health care?

  • Bat One

    ZZ,

In the decade prior to his one term in the US Senate, Edwards is reported to have made approximately $35 million as a plaintiff’s attorney specializing in suing Ob/Gyn’s, of which there are reported to be several dozen fewer in the state of North Carolina than there had been prior to Edwards’ medical malpractice reign of terror.

As 2H9 reports, his favorite trial tactic was to “channel” dead or deformed babies for the juries. Apparently, babies born with Down’s Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis, or stillborn, etc. were, according to Edwards, the fault of the attending physician.

The result of the Edwards’ crusade was that areas of North Carolina, particularly rural areas, now have fewer Ob/Gyn’s in practice, and those remaining are paying substantially higher malpractice insurance premiums, which raises the fees they must charge their patients as well.

It is not unfair to note that in North Carolina, John Edwards is himself at least partially responsible for disparity between rich and poor, that “two America’s” nonsense that seems to play so well with the media. The Edwards family, on the other hand, is obviously quite comfortable.

(Wouldn’t you just love to check the “green cards” of all those working on the Edwards’ home?)

    Neiman said:

but I would say that even those you noted have an image in the liberal world at least of compassion, tolerance

Yes, there’s that image in the parallel universe the libs inhabit. Fortunately it’s mostly a SELF image. There are still some of us out here who can see through that veneer of the compassionate liberal and see what’s really inside….people who are selfish, greedy, and controlling.

  • Neiman

With the Left is is NEVER about substance, it never hints at the truth, it is all image, all surface, all an ever shifting illusion created to sway the hearts and minds of others while leaving the intellect wholly untouched.

Look at JFK, the peanut farmer, Billy Jeff, Obama, Edwards and yes Hillary; it is a matter of manufacturing a lovely, well shined veneer that will blind the voters, keeping them from seeing the dark and malevolent person inside.

If they can sell the image nothing else matters!

  • http://vdvfamily.com/ Sphagnum

The funniest thing is that you can totally hear John Edwards Presidential ambitions flushing down the toilet with this one article. How the hell can he go out there and claim to campain for the “little guy” with this shit?

    What a douche bag…

  • docdave

Edwards has ambitions to be our president. Undoubtedly, he has plans for this mansion to be one of his presidential palaces.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

EB… I want to hear more about that Cuban health care system thing, that John Edwards might want to channel into ??? I can hardly wait to ask Will what he think about that idea too! …

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

    His childrens trust funds?…

  • Neiman

Like I said, I am not defending anything! I am just sharing my half-assed opinion.

The fact is we can look at the booming economy today and then see how Americans think Bush is screwing up the economy. We can look at the war on terror and how we have not been attacked again and we are making real progress in Iraq and yet Bush is a profiteering war monger and he is no longer trusted to wage the war on terror.

Or, look at Obama absent any real experience or credentials being feted to near worship proportions by Hollywood stars and Soros and others as the next JFK, the demi-god savior of America. Or, Hillary heading towards being crowned, as they and she believe she deserves – as the next president.

    Why?

These people and the Left have been able to deceive enough people through a very cleverly crafted public image in ‘appearing’ to be something they are not. Same with your observation Zsa Zsa about KKK Byrd, he is able to fool enough people that he is a great lion of tolerance and decency to keep being voted into office though his a a senile old fool.

It is a matter of beguilement; to win and hold the attention of others, to hold their interest, or capture their devotion, to mislead or deceive others. You will laugh at my analysis and think me an old fool; but I am convinced that these people on the Left are practiced professionals in the art of public beguilement and that alone can explain why they are so admired, loved and blindly supported by so many people.

Edwards always talks about two americas, yeah no shit.
I am definately part his America. I think its funny this is the same man that wants to take your away from you and redistribute to someone else. Ha, interesting.

To add to your comment, here’s what Dick morris says about Hillary:

Hillary hides her true self behind a “Hillary” brand that is chatty, charming, giggly, and warm–but is far from her true personality.

Morris describes Hillary’s sense of entitlement, and warns that it may lead deep into financial scandal.

And he demonstrates how Hillary dodges criticism by pretending that every attack is directed not just at her, but at every working woman in America.

Ultimately, the Hillary Clinton of today is marketing a false front, obscuring both her wants and her assets behind the phony facade of a domestic Everywoman.

  • Ernest N. Bailey

    You heartless bastards.

Don’t you realize he did it for the chillwren.
Making money was just an after thought.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

    Dick Morris is very kind…

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

2Hotel9, I bet he thinks that song is about him? He is so vain!

  • docdave

Yeah, Zsa, images of Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank are quite loathsome. So if it isn’t images than what factors keep these scum in elective offices?

  • Ernest N. Bailey

    ZZ,
    Touche…You got me…

Guess I have to rethink his contributions to society.
Come to think of it, that has not been much either.

  • robert108

Notice the large areas that were subjected to clearcutting. This is supposedly an environmental no-no. Even more “do as I say, not as I do” hypocrisy.

  • Douglas Krell

In George Bush’s America, John Edwards should be criticized, marginalized and criminalized. As an OBGYN doctor on the verge of insolvency because of the likes of Edwards, I know of a simple operation that could er…”cut off” his aspirations.

  • Neiman

Zsa Zsa: I have nothing to prove or defend; but I would say that even those you noted have an image in the liberal world at least of compassion, tolerance and liberality that people see and they overlook the reality you and I might see.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

I think it is that Self centered thing????

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

    2Hotel9…You are kidding me! Yikes!

  • Pilgrim

Nice house. I think I’m in the wrong business. I should have been a bloodsucking, lying, phony, manipulative, two-faced, ruthless, and soulless cockroach of a weasel politician myself.

I think that whole having-a-conscience thing pretty much disquaifies me, though. Drat.

  • Neiman

Pilgrim: Problem is more people were seeing the veneer in the last election and according to the polls a majority are still blinded by it today; and we conservatives better get off our behinds and peel off that veneer before it is too late!

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

I keep trying to imagine what the inside looks like. I am guessing there are quite a few mirrors? Maybe a portrait of himself in the den?…

  • docdave

I am convinced that these people on the Left are practiced professionals in the art of public beguilement and that alone can explain why they are so admired, loved and blindly supported by so many people.

Neiman on January 27, 2007 at 02:08 pm

Yep, it’s the oldest trick in the book i.e. create a strawman and then become the hero who tears it apart. This seems to work especially well in politics.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/white_folks_greed_runs_a_world_in_ Joel

“Weird, I don’t see any windmills or solar panels in that picture.”Mary Katharine Ham.

Liberalism in the end forces adherents to become hypocrites. They adopt one pose in public, but when it comes to what matters most in their own lives-their property, their privacy, and their children-they jettison their liberal principles and embrace conservative ones.
Do as I say (not as I do)

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Edwards will at the drop of a hat, remind you that he was born the son of a poor mill worker. The fact that he’s a rich, hypocritical unscrupulous lawyer should remind you that he’s also a son of a……

(hypocritical unscrupulous lawyer..is that a tautology??)

  • 2Hotel9

Wonder if he has a room just form channeling dead babies?

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

Neiman…I am thinking that the State of Massachusetts has a mental illness to keep electing Ted Kennedy. AND the people of West Virginia are either being bought off or some kind of extortion is going on or they are insane or heck maybe there is something I am just not getting about Robert Byrd that appeals to these people??? There are soooooo many Dems that just seem to me to not have a very good Image… Personally, I can’t see it.

  • docdave

Neiman, Zsa, I think for many voters it’s simply a party thing. i.e. Republicans bad, Democrats good or vice versa. In my opinion, permitting party line voting is one of the big wrongs in our elective system because it provides a too easy out for those that don’t want to examine the issues and the character/qualifications of the candidates.
