Because Of Iraq

Wesley Clark blames Islamic terrorism...on Iraq.

Ohhhh...so that’s why Osama bin Laden ordered his minions to crash planes into our buildings.  And that’s probably why they bombed the USS Cole too, not to mention why Islamic extremists bombed the World Trade Center in 1993, and bombed some embassies in 1998.  Because of Iraq.

Wait...all that happened before we invaded Iraq?  I’m confused.

Maybe they’re just attacking us because they’re a bunch of religious zealots driven crazy by centuries of oppression in the middle east.

Nah, couldn’t be.

All sarcasm aside, I liked this rebuttal:

Oppressed by who, I wonder? Certainly not oil hungry Americans…

Oh right.  It was Halliburton that was ruling Iraq before we invaded.

Thanks for reminding me, Chad.

Rob...I watched the video and the message seems quite clear that bin Laden is still a problem, America is less safe, etc. because, instead of addressing the terrorism threat head on, America tied itself up in the Iraq operation. I suppose it’s clear to me because I agree with it but the sooner youse guys own up to Bush’s mistake then the sooner we can all start solving the problem. It’s still not too late you know.

There are truths appropriate for children; truths that are appropriate for students; truths that are appropriate for educated adults; and truths that are appropriate for highly educated adults, and the notion that there should be one set of truths available to everyone is a modern democratic fallacy. It doesn’t work.”

Rob:
He isn’t blaming Iraq for all terrorism, but is making the point that invading that country hasn’t reduced the threat.
It’s a valid point in my estimation.

The bipartisan opposition may not be unexpected given Mr. Bowen’s Republican credentials

When the going gets tough…cut and run on oversight.

Nice going bushco, you make us so proud.

Excuse me, you were saying?

The clip was only 30 seconds. I can’t believe you didn’t watch the whole thing.

Wesley Clark actually says:

“Because of Iraq, America is less secure.”

Agree, disagree, whatever. But let’s not lie about things like this.

Nice cherry-picking, Dave.  Clark’s point is clearly that America has caused the terrorism problem by invading Iraq.  That’s a stupid point, because terrorism existed before we invaded.

Get a clue.

Clark’s point is clearly that America has caused the terrorism problem by invading Iraq.

Where does he state this? Where does he even loosely imply this?

Do you really think Wesley Clark thought terrorism didn’t exist until we invaded Iraq? You think he just plumb forgot about everything you listed? Jeesh, Rob.
