Because He’s Not Unpopular Enough: Obama Adviser Says Administration Will Address Gun Control

According to Obama adviser David Plouffe, gun control will be a focus of the administration over the next two years though, to be fair, he was reacting to a question about why gun control wasn’t in the President’s State of the Union speech.

The reason why gun control wasn’t in the speech is because it’s become a toxic issue for the left. Americans just aren’t buying the left/media’s attempts to leverage tragedies like the Tucson shooting into justifications for gun control.

Barack Obama has always favored ignoring the 2nd Amendment and doing all he can to take away the public’s right to firearms. This is exactly the sort of issue that Obama will focus on to divert attention from the abject failures of his economic policy and his foreign policy.

Remember: Never let a good crisis (the Tucson shootings) go to waste.

Is this the the same President even the right wing pollster Rasmussen shows having gained 13 points in his approval ratings over the last 30 or so days?

    I thought so.

    • Rob

He’s got a bit of a post-midterm bump by being pushed into the background a bit by a new Republican House majority.

He’s pretty low, historically, after two years and I suspect that once he’s back to trying to forcefeed the public his agenda his ratings will sink again.

      “…right wing pollster…”

How melodramatic! No such thing in this country, drama queen. You are stuck in monarchial Europe.
If only snowbama were more concerned with our private sector generating profit than his popularity ratings, we might get out of this deep trough he’s put us into. No profit, no jobs, no economic growth. Simple economics, but to advanced for you Dems.

Obama will continue having inflated popularity ratings even though the people will continue to vote more power to the Republicans. It is a great way to work off racial guilt without doing a lot more damage.

    • Bat One

There’s a good argument to be made that “racial guilt” was a large part of what got Obama into office in the first place. And Obama was just the right candidate to take advantage of it, without having to demonstrate any experience or competence for the office.

A Herman Cain campaign would be the best thing for a political discussion this country has ever witnessed. If you don’t know of him check him out and spread the word…

Nullification of the 2nd amendment has been completely accomplished.
The right of law enforcement to execute anyone with a firearm shall not be infringed.

The right to keep and bear arms is actually a protection against exactly that sort of state abuse, Poodle.

One of the protections against our government running wild and executing people is the fact that we individual citizens are allowed to be armed.

      What? You’re nutty.

  • SigFan

The left will never give up on this issue until one of two things happen. The first, their desired outcome, is a disarmed and compliant populace incapable of anything more than verbal protest against the diktats of the government and vulnerable prey for the criminals. The second and more likely is that they will push the populace into a corner from which there will be no choice left but to fight back. Let’s hope that neither outcome occurs and that the leftists have learned from past attempts that this is a losing issue for them – always has been and always will be.

If the long legged mac daddy wants to try and reinstate the useless, right infringing Clinton AWB let him try. The Dems and B.O. must really want to fire up the NRA,GOA 2AF and all the gun blogs and their members/readers…bring it on lefty mother fkrs!

It would appear that the over Twenty-three thousand firearms laws we already have on the books just aren’t enough to satisfy some people.

ATTENTION REPUBLICANS – Simply stated, If you want to lose my support quickly, support gun control!

The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the Constitution,But of course Obama considers it an obstacle rather than one of our most important documents

Seriously. Come take my gun. I beg you. Just try. Please.

Well, well, well….Barry’s going to ‘tackle’ gun control in the next two years. Guess what’s happening in two years? You got it. The election.

Much like the Enabling Act of Germany in 1933, civil liberties were suspended and citizens were forbidden to own firearms and newspapers were banned from speaking out against the Nazi party. I

Hitler needed the Reichstag fire to create a “crisis” among the German people, convince President Hindenburg to suspend civil liberties, consolidate power and remove weapons from the population.

Don’t think it won’t happen here? Think again. When the imperial federal government finally gets around to seizing firearms from everyone, then we’ve officially become a fascist state being oppressed by a dictator. Americans have become so complacent in recent years that I think most of them will hand over their guns without a fight and we will no longer exist as a constitutional Republic.
