Barrack Obama Still Confused On National Security Issues

Fresh off telling us that genocide in Iraq wasn’t worth putting American soldiers at risk and calling for the invasion of Pakistan, Barrack Obama states that we shouldn’t use nuclear bombs.

Ever.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday he would not use nuclear weapons “in any circumstance.”

“I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance,” Obama said, with a pause, “involving civilians.” Then he quickly added, “Let me scratch that. There’s been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That’s not on the table.”

I don’t think any of us wants to use nuclear weapons, but do we want a President and commander-in-chief unwilling to use them in “any circumstance?”  Or, if you think this was just as lip of the tongue, one who is so confused about their use?

Because there are instances where our nuclear arsenal could be needed.  In retaliation, say, for a first-strike against one of our cities.  Or to end a war like WWII.  Remember that at the time Truman nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki the Japanese were still fighting fiercely to defend their homeland.  Had we been forced to invade Japan with ground forces, hundreds of thousands of American troops would have died, and this country (already on thin financial ice) could very well have been bankrupted.

I think Senator Obama is really showing his naivete here.  Whatever your opinions of his political ideology and philosophy, it’s pretty clear that he’s just not ready to lead.
