Barney Frank Not Happy About Obama Picking Rick Warren

Personally, I think Democrats are ecstatic to have this little tempest-in-a-teapot over Pastor Rick Warren giving the invocation at Obama’s inauguration because it’s a nice distraction from Blagojevich as we head into the holiday news cycle.
And Barney Frank is the latest Democrat to pour some fuel on the fire. Though given Frank’s personal sexual proclivities he’s probably legitimately outraged.

WASHINGTON – The first openly gay member of Congress said Sunday it was a mistake for President-elect Barack Obama to invite the Rev. Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration.
“Mr. Warren compared same-sex couples to incest. I found that deeply offensive and unfair,” Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said in a broadcast interview.
“If he was inviting the Rev. Warren to participate in a forum and to make a speech, that would be a good thing,” Frank said. “But being singled out to give the prayer at the inauguration is a high honor. It has traditionally given as a mark of great respect. And, yes, I think it was wrong to single him out for this mark of respect.”
Warren, a best-selling author and leader of a Southern California megachurch, is a popular evangelical who stresses the need for action on social issues such as reducing poverty and protecting the environment, alongside traditional theological themes.
But gay rights advocates, who strongly supported Obama during the election, are angry over Warren’s backing of a California ballot initiative banning gay marriage. That measure was approved by voters last month.

Here’s what I don’t understand: Obama opposes gay marriage too. So what’s the big deal with Warren? Rick Warren, though socially conservative, is no right-winger. He’s a Mike Huckabee “conservative,” which is basically a liberal who is pro-life and opposes gay marriage.
If the gay rights people are so upset about Warren, why aren’t they also upset about Obama’s position on gay marriage? Unless they’re just assuming that Obama doesn’t really mean it and was just taking his position to get elected. And if that’s true, what’s that say about Obama?

Barney Frank Not Happy About Obama Picking Rick Warren

By Rob on December 21, 2008 at 05:42 pm

Ya can’t please everybody, can you?

  • ellinas

    Dino! Excellent points! I concur.

Is it your contention that America was founded on the premise that “some of us become better” and the rest work or be slaves to those that became better?

No. It is my contention that America was founded on the premise that the federal government’s role is extremely limited; that the vast majority of issues be resolved by the several states (to promote real diversity and give a modicum of respect to the ‘will of the people’. What America was not founded on was the idea of forced betterment wherein you (or anyone else)–no matter how pure your motive–gets to decide for me how/why I should be different from the way I choose to be. If you want to be better (whatever that means to you), have at it. If you want to help others who choose to be better (however they define it), please do. What you don’t get to do is demand that I, too, be better (by any definition) then proceed to force me to do so…

  • ellinas

Federal and or state laws demand that you “become better” under the threat of imprisonment.

ellinas on December 22, 2008 at 09:23 am

We do imprison people that commit crimes, do we not?
And under the threat of imprisonment we demand that bad people AKA cons and or perps, become better.
Holy shit AKAJOEL! You are a fucking moron.

    More freaking out from akajoel:

    “They’re turning us into girls!”

Sounds like your conversion is coming along nicely.

  • http://www.fileitunder.com/ Rob B.

I hear that they were looking for a muslum Iman to give the invocation but they couldn’t find one that approved of gay marriage or pork ka-bobs. If Barney hadn’t insisted on the pork ka-bobs being there, we would have tried the jews too. What can you say, the Senator likes pork.

Seriously, who cares? I’m offended that Barney Frank pushed Fanny and Freddie as being solid just so he could keep his boyfriend happy and he walks around tiffed that we won’t call his boyfriend his husband.

  • Justin

Oh, don’t you see the combination here people. Warren the warlock may appear to be conservative. That maybe a front. Obama the man who stems from a long life of serious lucifer worship and witchcraft. What do you think was on the floor during his speeches? A demonic symbol.

As many of us know, Warren is of antichrist spirit to come. Obama is trained and tooled antichrist, too. If you don’t see the connection, do a google search. If they haven’t removed the evidence they don’t want you to see. . .it should still be there. Then they may not care since they have most of you brainwashed through airwaves. (DO a search)

Gay, not gay, you think they care about that as though that is a relative concern. They are on the same team (Do a search). Which one are you on? Signs of the times. Pay attention. Wake up.

THE UN is NOW accepting applications across America. The antichrist set up. Just want you wanted, the ultimate decision of if you really sell your soul to satan or not. The greater good, what kool-aid do you drink?

  • ellinas

America wasn’t founded so we could all become better. America, God love her, was founded so we could all become whatever we damn well please.

Ah yes, there’s the conservatives. Relishing discord. Nothing they love more than dissention and disagreement. And these are the people Obama wants to reach out to? Better luck reasoning with a rutting bull elephant than winning over the stem crowd. He should give them the one-finger salute or he’ll end up with the same reward as Clinton did for trying to unite this fractured-beyond-repair psuedo-society. Hunted and impeached.

The reason Obama isn’t judged for his “opposition” to gay marriage is that he isn’t opposed to it. He lied. They all do so they won’t freak out the majority brainstems on the left and the right that make up this cesspool landmass we laughingly call a country. We accept the lies, just as the right accepts their leaders’ lies about “compassionate conservatism”, “fiscal conservatism” and “being honest, ethical people”.

America was also not founded on the premise that we all are equal contrary to the constitution and bill of rights. Is this still the case?

Bwaney Fwank and the feminization of America that has been promoted by liberals for decades now.

What the gender politicians, Hollywood, and the media use as the ideal person has changed from someone who is a strong moral male to a weak and submissive female personality.

They portray strong men as ignorant brutish bullies, while the ‘educated’ and ‘enlightened’ male is shown as someone who is sensitive and nurturing, even openly homosexual.

This is part of an agenda to fundamentally change America.

A ‘mature’ adult nowadays is seen as someone who is comfortable talking about their inner feelings, someone who values personal relationships above goals and morality, someone who isn’t afraid to cry.

There have been fundamental changes in American culture over the past fifty years, changes that indicate a shift from a male-dominated culture to a feminine and androgynous society.

In other words: a mature adult is seen as a woman. The feminine way of seeing the world and its problems has become mainstream in American.

    Summary: They’re a bunch of pussies !

I think the better question is why conservatives so fervently hold true to this idea that we live in some imaginary “country”.

What is country to a conservative? They don’t want a government. They eschew society, despise contributing to the greater good. Even the term “greater good” is not in their vocabulary or ability to comprehend. They all dream of being left alone on their own plot of land, their own roads, home-schooling the kids, praying before each lesson plan. Their fantasy is never being asked for help or to contribute to anything that even they benefit from. All their money just going to them alone and they get to create and do business without worrying about how it affects others- pollution, nuisance, whatever they like. If it makes you a buck, that’s what God put us here for.

So what then is “country” to a conservative? A place where you can move about and force everyone to think like you? A possession? You know how cons are obsessed with having stuff. Maybe a country is just one big stuff for them.

I think the truth is related to fascism. The idea of country is what turns them on. Living in one or creating a better one is not important.

Contrary to what you believe, Americans and America, be it through Federal and or state laws demand that you “become better” under the threat of imprisonment. If you are “bad” and don’t conform to society’s norms you get to either join a fringe group thus becoming a fringe kook, or go to prison.
Other ways that America demands that you become better is the reward system. If you work hard, and and play by the rules, and are successfully you are rewarded financially. you get a nice house, you eat fillet mignon, rib eye steak, a good T-bone,and if you so desire a hot dog and a cold one. You get a “nice” vehicle, nice clean clothes and other amenities. You may travel and expand your horizons. If you disregard the demand to “become better” you may have to steal a shopping cart to move your belongings around, you get to eat at the mercy of others, and may, or may not receive a welfare check. If you do receive a welfare check, you have a large portion of our society proclaiming loudly that the “govmint” is stealing their hard earned financial rewards, and rewarding your lazy ass. They also euphemistically call it income redistribution. Your travels are limited to the inner city, in the company of others like you. We may also try to impose our will on you through other ways. Prohibition, comes to mind. Yes! We will not allow you to drink. Etc. etc. etc.
I believe that you are a smart guy, so you do get the idea of what I am trying to convey.
