Barbara Bush Gets Her Purse Stolen In Argentina

Yikes…

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - U.S. and Argentine media reported that one of President Bush’s 24-year-old twin daughters had her purse stolen while being guarded by the Secret Service during a visit here.

ABC News, citing unidentified law enforcement reports, reported on its Web site Tuesday that Barbara Bush’s purse and cell phone were taken while she was dining in a Buenos Aires restaurant.

La Nacion newspaper, citing anonymous government sources, said in its online edition early Wednesday that one of Bush’s daughters had her purse taken Sunday afternoon in the popular tourist district of San Telmo.

A pair of thieves removed the purse from under a table while Secret Service agents stood guard at a distance, La Nacion reported. La Nacion said its sources did not reveal which of the Bush daughters had her purse stolen.

That’s a pretty serious lapse in security.  If a thief can get close enough to steal the girl’s purse, he can get close enough to kill her.

You gotta wonder what the thief was thinking, though.  Is a stolen purse really worth a potential entanglement with the Secret Service?

If those agents alowed someone to get close enough to steal a purse then, Lucy, someone’s got some ‘splainin’ to do!

I think that this could be one of those career defining moments for those guys.

Absolutely inexcusable. Those agents probably shouldn’t be allowed to keep their jobs if someone was able to get that close without the daughters’ knowledge.

Also, it’s kind of disturbing to know that some Argentinians probably have President Bush’s cell phone number.

looks like the SS agents were themselve having too much of a good time in Argentina, ..

A Secret Service agent on the advance detail got into an “altercation” with someone after a night out and was badly beaten, according to the law enforcement reports.  The Secret Service said today the incident was an attempted mugging that occurred while the agent was on his own time. The agent is doing fine.

I was doing some thinking about this.

It’s very probably that the girls want to enjoy themselves and asked that they be given some space.

Given that it’s impossible to protect them against assassination.

However the SS could still deploy to protect them against the #1 threat which would be kidnapping.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.
