Barack Obama: Secret Enemy Of The Second Amendment

The key to Obama's success thus far is a campaign of obfuscation on the issues. He knew that he need only drop off a press release on any given topic with the MSM, and they would dutifully report it as 'fact' and neglect to investigate his actual voting record and prior statements. Even Obama himself must be impressed with the success this tactic has had.

Just as his friendships with terrorists, black racists and crooks go largely unreported, so too his views on abortion, his huge windfall contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his long string of failures as a 'community activist' never see the light of day.

When it comes to what Barack Obama really believes, however, no topic is more obscure than the Second Amendment. He claims he supports the Second Amendment, as he must in order to remain viable as a candidate. As with so many other issues however, with Obama these are merely words, crafted to tell his audience exactly what it wants to hear. His deeds tell another story. When the Supreme Court agreed to hear the Heller case regarding the District of Columbia handgun ban, Obama said "there is an individual right to bear arms, but it is subject to common-sense regulation just like most of our rights are subject to common-sense regulation.” But when 55 senators signed a brief arguing that the handgun ban was unconstitutional, Obama was not one of them. By his action, Obama showed where he really stood on the issue.

If you dig a little bit into his past, Obama actions left a paper trail and a history of hostility to the Second Amendment that reveals just how deep his loathing of guns, and his loathing of those who bitterly cling to them, really is. In 1998, Obama filled out a 'political courage test' by Project Vote Smart, and his answers speak for themselves:

David T. Hardy tells us that Obama was chairman of the Joyce Foundation, which funds a veritable empire of anti-gun propaganda. Under Obama's watch, the Joyce Foundation strongarmed the Chicago-Kent Law Review into publishing a 'symposium' that only included anti-gun articles. Those articles, unfortunately, found their way into federal anti-gun case law. The breadth and depth of the Joyce Foundation anti-gun propaganda mill is rather astonishing; click here to see a 'mind map' of the organization's beneficiaries.

The big issue here is not guns; it is obvious that Obama is an über-liberal and of course he wants to limit gun rights as much as possible. That is just leftist orthodoxy, and there is nothing in Obama's record that shows he is any kind of iconoclast when it comes to breaking with liberal views. The issue here is how a candidate for president can go completely unvetted on the Second Amendment by a press that lays down and refuses to do its job. That is not press dysfunction; it is wilfull and deliberate.

I’m just unclear on why anyone would believe that Obama is a “secret” enemy of the Second Amendment.  It’s not like he’s made his career in the nation’s second largest free fire (oops, “gun-free") zone by standing up for a new shall issue carry law or anything, right?

Barri is not a “secret enemy” of the 2nd Amendment, he is a life long, hard core, anti-gun Democrat. His vote record in IL state senate clearly shows that. Not to mention that he has proudly proclaimed same since enter the “community organizer” racket.

As noted months ago, here, David Bernstein “unearthed a disturbing set of proposals offered by then-state Senator Barack Obama in 1999 regarding the regulation of privately owned firearms. “ Those proposals included:

Obama outlined his anti-gun plan that includes increased penalties for the interstate transportation of firearms.

The maximum penalty now for bringing a gun across the border is 10 years in prison. Obama is proposing to make it a felony for a gun owner whose firearm was stolen from his residence which causes harm to another person if that weapon was not securely stored in that home. [!!!]

He’s proposing restricting gun purchases to one weapon a month and banning the sale of firearms at gun shows except for “antique” weapons. Obama is also proposing increasing the licensing fee to obtain a federal firearms license.

He’s also seeking a ban on police agencies from reselling their used weapons even if those funds are used to buy more state-of-the-art weapons for their agencies. Obama wants only those over 21 who’ve passed a basic course to be able to buy or own a firearm.

He’s proposing that all federally licensed gun dealers sell firearms in a storefront and not from their homes while banning their business from being within five miles of a school or a park. He’s also banning the sale of ‘junk” handguns like the popular Saturday Night Specials.

Obama is requiring that all people working at a gun dealer undergo a criminal background check. He’s also asking that gun manufacturers be required to develop safety measures that permit only the original owner of the firearm to operate the weapon purchased.

Additionally, he wants an increase of the funds for schools to teach anger management skills for youth between the ages of 5-13. Obama is also seeking to increase the federal taxes by 500 percent on the sale of firearm, ammunition [sic]—weapons he says are most commonly used in firearm deaths.

For a man to offer proposals such as these, and then turn around and piously suggest that he supports the Second Amendment and the individual citizen’s “right to keep and bear arms” is the height of dishonesty and cowardly obfuscation of the truth.

Barack Obama is a liar!

Where’s the secret?

Obama doesn’t think private citizens should be able to own firearms. Period.

This should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the history of marxist and other totalitarian regimes.  By banning firearms from the common citizen, they can ensure that the only people who have weapons are the criminals and the government (which is actually a redundant statement!).

Wake up people! If Obama gets his way, your only means of proactively defending yourself and your family will be taken away.  How then will you stop anyone who wishes you harm, or who merely wishes to take your goods and “redistribute” them to the more “deserving” in the name of “fairness”?

I am a long-time proponent of active defense, and am obviously a gun owner.  My prayer throughout my experiences with firearms is that I never have the need to use them.  The way things are going though, that prayer may be one that goes unanswered.

Barack Obama has an F rating with Gun Owners of America. Truly, he is not a friend of the Second Ammendment, but John McCain’s rating is, as of 1998, an F-!, which means, unlike Sen. Obama, Sen. McCain has actively SPONSORED and urged passage of legislation to infringe on our Second Ammendment rights. Lesser of two evils… Besides, if McCain wins, we’ll still have Hillary Clinton to deal with in 2012. Just imagine the pitiful loser the Repugnicans will pick to run against her next time. Reagan obviously was a fluke.

Joe, your point on McC is one I made a year ago. And no one, here or anywhere else, wanted to hear it.

John is, above all else, a Ringknocker. Country and citizens are secondary to the “system”.

I will vote for him. I ain’t fucking happy about it.
