Barack Obama Likes To Play Patriotic For The Rubes

I don’t know what’s worse: The fact that Barack Obama hangs out with guys who stomp on the American flag and scream out “God Damn America” while refusing to wear the now-ubiquitous American flag pin on his lapel, or the fact that he every once in a while he puts the pin on his chest while expecting us all to believe that it means something.

That he usually does this when speaking in front of rural and/or red state crowds is just the icing on the cake.

Back when he was just refusing to wear the pin at least you could respect him for taking a stand on principle even if you found that principle to be despicable.

I’m sure your prose is out-pacing your logic here:

...respect him for taking a stand on principle even if you found that principle to be despicable.

It’s not often when I can respect a man for despicable principles; this doesn’t qualify as one of those times.

I’m drawing a distinction between respecting the principles and respecting the fact that someone can stick to them without bowing to political expediency.

I’d never vote for Obama for sticking to principles I don’t respect, but I could at least respect him for being straight and honest about it.

I know that. I was just pinching the goat-head.

But if you wish to respect a man for standing on his principles, you may want to qualify those ideals with some word other than despicable…just a suggestion.

I respect Mike Adamson for sticking to and adhering to his beliefs, but that’s because I don’t find them abhorrent.
