Barack Obama Lies About Handguns Ban

Barack Obama from the recent Democrat debate:

I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns.

Reality: Barack Obama voted as a state senator against lifting a total handgun ban in Willmette, Illinois.
But please pay no attention to the dishonest politician behind the curtain. Look over there at the hope and change and stuff.

Has he ever proposed any gun legislation that directly targets the criminal?

banning their business from being within five miles of a school or a park

Five miles? Man! In a lot of communities, that’s a virtual ban all by itself! What if it were only two miles from a school, the perp would walk there and the teachers would have time to get all the students under their desks??? Sheesh!

I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns.

But, then, I never said I was in favor of lifting all out bans, either!
It all depends on what the meaning of “is” is!

Now wait a minute folks. Hannitized hasn’t yet given us his official ruling on what Obama really means by “I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns.” I’m sure he can find someone in the democrat party who once said something that puts this comment into better context. You are just a bunch of dishonest sacks of turds for not being drooling Obamaniacs.

I took note of this a couple months ago, but it’s worth repeating. In 1999, State Senator Obama proposed legislation which would have made it a felony for a gun owner whose firearm was stolen from his residence which causes harm to another person if that weapon was not securely stored in that home.

In addition,he proposed restricting gun purchases to one weapon a month and banning the sale of firearms at gun shows except for “antique” weapons. He also sought to ban police agencies from reselling their used weapons even if those funds are used to buy more state-of-the-art weapons for their agencies.

Finally, he proposed that all federally licensed gun dealers sell firearms in a storefront and not from their homes while banning their business from being within five miles of a school or a park, and sought to increase the federal taxes by 500 percent on the sale of firearm and ammunition.

A ban on handguns? Damn right he favored a ban! No matter how he tries to spin it now for the benefit of those frustrated and bitter middle American Christians who favor the Second Amendment, his record says otherwise.

The entire David Bernstein post from the Volokh Conspiracy from which I have paraphrased can be found here.
