Barack Obama: I Was Raised With Values Straight From The Kansas Heartland

According to Obama’s new political ad he’s got values from the “Kansas” heartland.

Here’s the problem: Barack Obama isn’t from Kansas.  He was born in Hawaii, lived most of his first ten years in Indonesia, and then graduated from high school back in Hawaii.

His only connection to Kansas is that his mother was born there, meaning Obama’s values have a tenuous connection to Kansas at best.

But I suppose “I have Kansas values” sounds a lot better than “I have values straight from Jakarta.”

Regardless, what does it say about Obama when he can’t even shoot straight about something as simple and non-consequential as this?

Comments

I was wondering which self Obama talking about; seriously he says he loves his country and then he has buddies like reverand Wrong who was as his spiritual advisor, The same guy that said not God Bless American, no, no, no God Damn America. The same guy that believes the USA is the KKofA.

This is the same presidential candidate that has William Ayers as a buddy, this is a domestic terrorist that treats the flag by tromping on it.

This presidential candidate that has a wife say this is the first time in her adult life that she is proud of her country. I have been a live for 40 years and I have been proud of my country every day of my life.

Heck all we need is a flag waving in the back ground.

B. Hussein Obama is nothing more than a political “Zelig”.  He becomes whatever he needs to be wherever he is at that moment.

I guess your post might make a little bit of sense if that’s what he actually said in the ad.  But I guess that doesn’t matter?

Petty, inconsequential nonsense.

I was saying none of it was true.

More importantly, what’s it say about his enemies, that they’ll pretend something as “non-consequential” (sic) as this is worth discussing? Are they that intellectually bankrupt? Why do they insist on turning serious political debates into pointless “Gotcha!” moments?
todd on June 19, 2008 at 04:18 pm

I’ll bet that most Americans will believe him! Nothing will stick against this guy, he on his way to POTUS and McCain is too weak, unsure, unable to offer the nation a vision and thus Obama has a cake walk into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

His parents may have “taught me [Obama] values straight from the Kansas heartland”, but he turned to “God Damn America” values once he was an adult.

YeeHaw, is not that too funny.

Yeah, the corn fields of Kansas and streets of Chicago are so closely intertwined and so much alike.

People in Kansas, awakening at 5AM and working all day for a living have so much in common with a street activist from Chicago.
Used to be that Presidential candidates of either party used to be people of character, not characters of despair.

This dipstick and his ilk have no heartland values, they have forsaken all American values for “Hope and Change.”

If Obama has ‘Kansas’ values and is so proud of it, why was his first book about his “Dreams of my (deadbeat) Father” from Kenya?

Obama’s not proud of anything unless its politically expedient.

How right you are, but then again, anyone with functioning synapses knows the absolute falsehood of Obamanation’s statement.

He is not the first:  The ridiculously-stupidily-false-on-their-face statements have often come from campaigning Leftists:

- Kerry and Hillary in Hunting regalia, I’ve always been a hunter / supporter of the Second Amendment;

So, he has “Kansas values” from his mother?  He describes his mother’s mother as “a typical white person”, though.  Curious.

Apparently Jay didn’t watch the ad.

But anything that’s critical of the liberal messiah is all just a distraction now, isn’t it Jay?

Obama couldn’t pick out Kansas out of the57 stateson a map unless someone pointed it out to him.

They did not teach US geography at his madrassa in Indonesia.

No Rob, try again.  It’s because you’re making an argument that makes absolutely no sense based upon the ad.  But your equations don’t need logic or sense here.  As long as the final solution is somehow disparaging of the opposition, your little buddies here will eat it up.  And anyone who DARES not dine is an apologist.

Between your nonsensical, petty attacks on Obama and your feverish, incoherent ramblings, I place you somewhere in between Teddy K. and Ms. Hasselbeck.

I keep coming here to see the latest “bombshell” that the conservatives have cooked up.  Perhaps Obama’s great uncle played chess with a Nazi prison guard.  Or maybe his wife owned a Russian made Zenitar camera.  The horror.

I started to make a post, but then I read Jay’s. He hit the nail on the head.  Nonsensical and petty attacks pretty much sums it up for me.

Does this mean that those of us who are “little buddies” of Rob will only have to put up with one or the other of you?

Please?

Incidentally, is English a second language for you, Davinski?  Just curious.

I asked not to disparage, but because this phrase,

I started to make a post…

has a Germanic or Slavic construction, and the use of the verb “make” appeared to be a subconscious translation into English.

My apologies if I was wrong.  I meant no affront.

Nonsensical and petty?  Obama is basing his campaign on his character.  His ability to be genuine.  I point out, in response to a campaign ad where he claims to have values from Kansas, that he’s not actually from Kansas.  He’s from Hawaii by way of Indonesia.

I know the facts are inconvenient for your messiah, Davinski, but they’re the facts no less.

Rob, My families origins in the U.S.are South Dakota. It is in no way a stretch to say I have South Dakota values without spending day one in the beautiful state.
I thank God they have been passed down many generations.

That isn’t Kansas values.

Is it impossible to admit that his mother’s Kansas values influenced him? I guess it is. Don’t be so blinded by your political partisanship. There is plenty
of things on which you can disagree with Obama, but this one makes you look very nonsensical and petty. Try an issue for a change.

Is it impossible to admit that his mother’s Kansas values influenced him?

Unless it can be proven, it is improper to admit the existence of anything. Even if there can be an actual demonstration of “Kansas values"(along with a meaningful definition of same), some of those values may be positive, and some may be negative.
The reality of this statement from Obama is that it’s blatant political pandering to a certain group, in an attempt to buy their votes with phony group identity rhetoric.

Yeah. Right.

I think the fact that Barama is a lying poseur whose word cannot be trusted qualifies as a campaign issue!

No matter how you define “Kansas values” it is clear that Obama’s values are those of both Marxism and black liberation theology.  If you want an example of how well that works, look at the present situation in Zimbabwe.

Hawaiian-born, Indonesian-raised, Son of an Atheist, Son of a Kenyan Muslim, 20-Year Member of Radical Black Liberation Church, Colleague of Terrorist William Ayers, Friend of Convict Tony Rezko, Most Liberal U.S. Senator… Now Holds Kansas Heartland Values

Now that I’ve stopped laughing: He was “taught” “values straight from the Kansas heartland.” Oh really? His mother was an atheist and quasi-commie who had a thing for foreign Muslims (one from Kenya, the other from Indonesia). Not exactly a script screaming “middle American values” eh?

BACK TO REALITY: For a reminder of his real values. He’s made the southside of ChiTown his home for the past 20-plus years. Which also happens to house Tony Rezko, William Ayers, Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, et al. All those Kansas Heartland types, ya’ll.

Obama’s mother was born in Kansas. She raised him in Jakarta with her own values. So yes - he was raised with values straight of Kansas. It’s silly and ignorant of you to suggest that he would be raised by Indonesians values just because he was raised there. Your values come from your parents, NOT from the environment you’re in. I’ve visited American expats living in Indonesia. They raise their kids as Americans. Not as Indonesians. Sorry guys - but in your attempt to bash all things Obama, you often make utterly silly and absurd statements that show your lack of knowledge of the world outside the United States.
