Barack Obama Coming To North Dakota Again For Closed-Door Event

For a quick visit with military members and their families to discuss “sacred trusts.”

CHICAGO, IL – On Thursday, July 3, 2008, Senator Barack Obama will visit Fargo, ND.  Obama will host a meeting with veterans and military families to discuss keeping our sacred trust with those who have served our country.
The event will be by invitation only.  The event is open to the press.

Note the “by invitation only” part.

Back shortly after the 2004 election President Bush came under heavy fire for holding an event in Fargo, but not letting in certain liberals who had been talking on the internet about disrupting the event.  Fargo liberals, and their mouthpieces in the North Dakota media, criticized Bush for not being open to all Americans.  Personally, I thought the idea of banning people who weren’t attending the event to participate peacefully but rather to disrupt it was just fine, but whatever.

Earlier in this campaign cycle Rudy Giuliani also visited North Dakota, and he also came under criticism from the North Dakota media for not holding an open event.  The Bismarck Tribune quoted me in an article blasting Giuliani for not holding an open event, and the North Dakota Democrats put a snide post up on their blog about the “private” event.

Will the North Dakota media hold Obama to this same standard?  Will the North Dakota Democrats demand that Obama’s event be open for the entire public?  Can I talk about going into Obama’s event and disrupting it on this blog and still plan on getting a ticket for admission?

I’d say “not bloody likely” is the answer for all of the above.
