Awesome Ad Targeting Byron Dorgan: “Freddie Dorgan”
You may have heard this radio ad from Common Sense North Dakota on your radios already:
The best point the ad makes, I think, is when it is is suggested that Dorgan (and other politicians who took political contributions from Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) should give the money back. Doesn’t that make sense? After all, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are government sponsored entities. And they were both bailed out by our tax dollars. If the taxpayers are being asked to prop up these companies, shouldn’t the politicians at the very least give back the political contributions they got from the companies?
Apparently this ad has gotten the attention of Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan. As I type this I hear an ad put out by the state Democrat party calling on listeners to tell this “out of state” group that this isn’t how we do politics in North Dakota. Aside from the fact that it is how we do politics in North Dakota, it’s odd that Conrad and Dorgan and their North Dakota Democrats would complain about out of state groups when the state Democrat party gets 80% of its political contributions from out of state. And both Dorgan and Conrad routinely have campaign contribution amounts that consist around 90 - 95% of out-of-state funds.
By the way, according to OpenSecrets.org, Barack Obama was the second largest recipient of political contributions from recently bailed-out, quasi-government lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The first? Senator Chris “VIP Loans” Dodd. Dodd’s buddy Kent “I call the CEO when I want a loan” Conrad rounded out the top 15.
