Australia Puts Moratorium On Fracking
12:33pm
A disconcerting preview of what could come to pass here in America should the environmental fear mongers get their way (via Bruce Oksol):
The Victorian government imposed a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing pending legislative changes to implement new standards for the oil and gas industry.
The ban is not expected to impact any current leaseholders.
Victorian Resources Minister Michael O’Brien said the hold would remain effective until implementation of a national regulatory framework for regulating coal seam gas and fracing.
Hydraulic fracturing has spurred an energy boom here in America that has, in turn, lowered energy prices and even accomplished something the environmentalists couldn’t with all their emissions standards, biofuels, wind turbines and solar panels. Carbon emissions in America are at 20-year lows, meaning despite a consistently growing economy (albeit with anemic growth during the Obama years) we’re back to Clinton-era levels of emissions.
But the environmentalists, useful idiots for the green energy industry which doesn’t want to compete with a resurgent fossil fuels industry, would see that undone.
