Attention Those Concerned About The National Heritage Area: Burleigh County Meeting On Monday

The Burleigh County Commission has put a discussion about the National Heritage Area land grab, which as of right now encompasses all of Burleigh county and four other counties (Morton, Oliver, Mercer and McLean), on their agenda for their Monday meeting.
According to the agenda, the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation (the unelected organization which is hoping to get millions of your federal tax dollars to develop a “management plan” for this land) will be presenting information regarding public hearings about the NHA (which were supposed to have taken place before the designation) and a draft “proposal” for the area.
It would behoove any and all land owners caught up in this boondoggle to be in attendance at the meeting to at least hear what the NPHF plans to do with the land, and to voice dissent if allowed. Be respectful, but be there.
There is no reason to roll over for these people.
Update: Would help if I put the where/when of the meeting out there as well. Here’s a link to the agenda. The meeting will take place in the Tony Baker room of the county building at 5:00pm.

I didn’t see this item on the agenda for the August 3rd meeting…are you sure?

And it’s the Tom Baker meeting room. Enter on the 5th Street entrance and go down the stairs.

    Fight these bastards.
You should see what the Feds did to oil and gas development down in the Billings County area with all the greenie-weenie shit. The landowners would sold out the surface rights have lost many many millions in royalties and lease bonuses, and a huge swath of our critical national oil production has been lost.

“We are very much in danger of that here too, Geo. The Northern Plains Heritage Foundation is going to include the Sierra Club in their management planning, and the area they’ve targeted is right in the heart of coal country.”

In the ancient words of my people, “Oy Vey!”.
They may detest oil and gas and nuclear, but they go all Joe Pesci when it comes to coal. It literllay bursts the capillaries in their eyes just thinking about EEEEvil coal.
And the bad news – 95% of North Dakota’s electricity comes from coal.
Do the math, I guess. If you dare…

    Rob,
Do you know where the meeting is being held?

I contacted the North Dakota Petroleum Council, of which I am a member. They are by far the most important energy group in the state, and have lobbyists.
They didn’t seem too thrilled about the situation, of course, but it is one county over from the oilpatch, and I don’t know where they will go with this.
Plenty of other battles to fight in western North Dakota, I believe..
