ATF Runs Out Of Form 4473 Due To “Unprecedented Demand”

Interesting…

…the ATF issued a notice a couple of days ago to all FFLs that the inventory of Form 4473 (the NICS check form you fill out every time you buy a firearm from an FFL dealer) is running low due to “unprecedented demand.” I wonder why demand is so high?

Gee, I wonder. Couldn’t have anything to do with our President-elect and his publicly-expressed views about bitter, racist, gun-clinging Americans could it?

goon and 2Hotel9. I do not believe that the anti gun Democrats have the stomach for a showdown on the 2nd ammendment. There are after all plenty of pro gun Democrats.
I have my guns, and have no problem with you having yours.

I don’t think a gun purchase is wasted money. By doing so, gun owners, old and new, are demonstrating to BO that they’ve got a few hundred bucks available for a discretionary purchase. In two years, that discretionary purchase might be….say….a donation to the opponents of Obama’s political friends. Even if overpriced, the message is priceless.

I gotta agree with E @ 5:46pm on this one. The supremes are weighted in favor of a broad interpretation of the 2nd, for the time being. Take their decision about the Chicago area gun ban this past August as an example. That’s not to say congress couldn’t muck it all up by imposing prohibitive taxes on guns and ammo because the government desperately needs the income (to help pay for their pet projects) or make the purchase of a gun an unreasonable expense for most citizens, but that’s a discussion for a thread of another topic.

The general consensus I’m reading from most of the cooler heads in the gun culture is that Obama and the Dems won’t touch gun control until at least after 2010 if not until after 2012.

Honestly people that are in a rush to buy now are just wasting their money paying over inflated prices if you ask me. Wait about 6 months when things calm down and inventories replenish and if you still want it, then buy. That is my advice anyway.

The Dems aren’t as dumb as people make them out to be. They know it’s a political loser and won’t get near it.. for now.

If they can deprive you of ammunition, they do not need to take your gun

    in addition…..

Gun control? We need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost 5,000 dollars. Because if a bullet cost five thousand dollar, we wouldn’t have any innocent bystanders.

No doubt about it, I always laugh when we hear lefties trying to tell us that NOBAMA isn’t going to take our guns away but everyone he surrounds himself with or oppoints is big time anti gun.

  • 2Hotel9

e, continue to spew your lies, women like you always fear firearms, whilst real humans honor the Constitution.

Barri has explained, in several public forums now, that he will merely raise taxes on firearms and ammuntion, making it impossible for real human beings to purchase them. Get with the program!

  • NoJelly

Prez-elect Hope&Change Said the words: “I have no intention of taking away anyone’s guns”.

The response to this will tell you all you need to know about Obammie’s credibility.

I have three more now, one a new huntin’ rifle…

  • 2Hotel9

And e? Your boy Barri won’t “confiscate” any guns. He, like you, is a coward. He will order ATF and US Marshal Service to violate real human beings rights.

There is a bill that is being pushed in 18 states and requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer, a data base of all ammunition
sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition
after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded. Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.

    (Including handloaded ammo.)
They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammunition, they do not need to take your gun
This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:

Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland,
Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

Advice to buy later assumes no monetary inflation and no more wars, in addition to the assumption that congress (and the state governments that have become more anti-gun in recent elections) does not pass new bans.

So, yes, demand may come down and bring the price of firearms and ammunition down for some period of time. But looking a year, two years, three years into the future… well, buying now (or trying to buy now) does make a good deal of sense, especially when you consider that firearms are durable goods – it’s not like they’re going to rot, unless you abuse and neglect them.

First, congress could override a presidential veto. Second, Bloomberg and his NY lawyers have tried to use the civil courts to sue the manufacturers out of business. Third, ATF and others could be forced to react to Jamie Gorelick verbals.

A good investment in freedom. Eye hand coordination is improved and liberty defended.

I’m a very ordinary guy, and have never owned a gun prior to December 28th. I have however, shot clays on occasion and enjoyed that. I may or may not have purchased a shotgun at this time, but the administration change did affect my decision. (Call me a clinger if you want…but I’m not.)

BTW – Thanks Rob for the gun advice.

  • http://magyartruth.blogspot.com/ Chief RZ

King. I like that, “I may or may not have”. We are allowed to defend ourselves and are under no obligation to reveal our defense(s) — or not to criminals.

The good challenge to the wimps: Why don’t you post a sign on your house, “we have no guns to defend ourselves”!

    Good point.

It has nothing to do with our President-elect and his publicly-expressed views about bitter, racist, gun-clinging Americans.

It has everything to do with conspiracy nuts and bitter, racist, gun-clinging Americans
Regular everyday gun owners do not suffer from the panic, induced and fuelled by rumors from nuts, gun shops, the NRA, and post apocalyptic delusional idiots.

It’s not a conspiracy nut or bitter, racist, gun clinging american thing.

Americans got used to the idea of every democratic president running their second amendment rights into the ground with the Clinton administration. It’s only natural for them to assume that Obama will do the same.

Ellinas said: goon. Barak Husein Obama is not going to take your guns away.

Ellinas I don’t trust the democrats with our gun rights, they can say that all they want but all it is going to take is to see a dem tack a rider on to a bill that is laden with pork for some pet project and it will get signed into law.

So feel free to make a day trip out to western PA, we will hook you up!

I’m a little scared of Western PA. Any place that reelected Murtha after being called racist rednecks is an area I can steer clear of.

  • 2Hotel9

Just called my local firearms merchant and he assured me he has plenty of forms, and guns, and ammo, to go around. So feel free to make a day trip out to western PA, we will hook you up!

It’s not a conspiracy theory if the person has publically said they plan to do it. Than means you’re listening.

    Moszer, better safe than sorry.

  • 2Hotel9

As already pointed out, Barri has said his plan is to tax weapons and ammo till only government can afford them. And government always exempts itself from paying taxes on that which it purchases.

And e? Good thing you don’t “mind” me having guns, since there is fuck all an old woman like you can do about it.
