Associated Press: Repent, Global Warming Skeptics, For The End Is Near

According to the Associated Press, if The One doesn’t make good on that promise to heal the planet and make the oceans stop rising we’re all gonna die. Under the headline “Obama left with little time to curb global warming,” reporter Seth Borenstein writes:
WASHINGTON (AP) – When Bill Clinton took office in 1993, global warming was a slow-moving environmental problem that was easy to ignore. Now it is a ticking time bomb that President-elect Barack Obama can’t avoid.
Since Clinton’s inauguration, summer Arctic sea ice has lost the equivalent of Alaska, California and Texas. The 10 hottest years on record have occurred since Clinton’s second inauguration. Global warming is accelerating. Time is close to running out, and Obama knows it.
“The time for delay is over; the time for denial is over,” he said on Tuesday after meeting with former Vice President Al Gore, who won a Nobel Peace Prize for his work on global warming. “We all believe what the scientists have been telling us for years now that this is a matter of urgency and national security and it has to be dealt with in a serious way.”
But there are powerful political and economic realities that must be quickly overcome for Obama to succeed. Despite the urgency he expresses, it’s not at all clear that he and Congress will agree on an approach during a worldwide financial crisis in time to meet some of the more crucial deadlines.
“Scientists” are apparently in a tizzy because things are going extinct!
Scientists are increasingly anxious, talking more often and more urgently about exceeding “tipping points.”
“We’re out of time,” Stanford University biologist Terry Root said. “Things are going extinct.”
Of course, animals and plants have been going extinct for eons. Long before Al Gore, Hummers and cow flatulence. So what’s to suggest that current extinctions, and even current warming/cooling trends, are necessarily being caused by human activity? We know, for a fact, that the earth has gone through warming and cooling trends much more drastic than anything we’ve seen in recorded history long before humans were on earth. We also know that many species of animals evolved into existence, lived, and then went into extinction before humans ever walked the earth.
So why is human activity suddenly the cause now? And why are we so arrogant as to think we can stop it? And while media types like to make broad allusions to scientists who believe in anthropogenic global warming, and are even alarmed by it, it’s worth remembering that there are a lot of scientists who are very skeptical of climate change alarmism. Including these 650 which include among the Nobel Prize winners.
I think it’s worth remembering that most, if not all, of the global warming hysteria is driven by people with an interest in either selling newspapers or using climate change as an excuse to expand their power and control. After all, what better excuse to tax and regulate everything than a crisis that names the very air we exhale, not to mention the farts we and our animal comrades emit, as “pollution.”
And then there’s this, again from the AP article linked above:
Ironically, 2008 is on pace to be a slightly cooler year in a steadily rising temperature trend line. Experts say it’s thanks to a La Nina weather variation. While skeptics are already using it as evidence of some kind of cooling trend, it actually illustrates how fast the world is warming.
Cool is warm. Up is down. Black is white.
Who are you going to believe? The AP, or your lying eyes?
