Associated Press Not Shy About Showing Bias

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen liberal media disdain for Republicans put quite this bluntly:

(CBS/ AP) Republicans on Saturday blocked the Senate from considering a bill next week that would nearly double federal aid to help the poor pay heating and air-conditioning bills.

Although a dozen Senate Republicans support the measure, most voted with GOP leaders who would rather spend the time trumpeting their call to expand offshore oil drilling before Congress takes six weeks off for vacation and the presidential nominating conventions.

Seems to me that expanding offshore drilling is a much more important priority at this point than expanding heating entitlements which, in the opinion of this humble observer who knows a thing or two about heating bills, are more than sufficient as is.

After all, offshore drilling has the potential to increase the domestically available supply of oil and thus drive down gas prices.  Something that benefits pretty much every American in the country.  Increasing heating/cooling entitlements only benefits those handful of Americans who can’t be bothered to pay their own bills.

And it benefits them at the expense of people who can and do pay their bills.

Seems to me that Republicans have their priorities straight on this one, carping from liberal AP reporters to the contrary.

You have got to be kidding me.  That oil will go into the world market and not lower the price of oil or gas enough to be noticed.  The oil companies will make billions more in profit and that is the only plus this argument has.  Americans have already told the banks to shove it by not paying the “usery” interest rates imposed by the slick “snake oil” salesmen in the housing industry.  If this goes too d=fay people will just run up bills and walk away.  Unless that is what you want you should reconsider your position.  This is 2008.  We should have the know how to create cheap electricity.  After all it is never ending and totally replenishable. (it is a part of the Universe) It is more important to make a “buck” than to do the right thing.  A revolution is brewing.  Beware!

The GOP has earned nothing but disdain.

So what you and Jack are saying is, Jibber jabber blibbity blah. Should be, could be, but let’s ignore the solutions available to us now.

What is “the right thing” and what is the brewing revolution? Let me guess: hocus pocus and stupidity en masse.
