Who’s gonna be a more productive hole-digger, a guy with a backhoe or a guy with a shovel? Would union membership change this?
Productivity is mostly a measure of the level of capitalization of an economy. If you economic illiterates can understand this, and now feel foolish, then there may be hope for you.

Lioncourt – Do wages go up?
Whatever the wage is, it is better than nothing.
Which is something that you dense union sycophants never seem to understand. What good is a “high wage” if there are no fucking jobs? Pretty simple concept to understand, but not to union supporters.

Congratulations, AV! After all the schooling I’ve given you, you finally learned something!
Now, here’s your next lesson: Unions are labor cartels, with the sole purpose of fixing the price and supply of labor at higher than market values, for the enrichment of their ruling elites.

I am anti-union, but I still have to ask, aren’t there a number of other factors that could be responsible for this? Just because these two trends are correlated doesn’t necessarily mean that one is the direct result of the other.
I personally think that the rise in productivity is a direct result of decreased union membership, but this doesn’t seem to prove it.

Pretty much unions aren’t much different than leftie politicians: they sell higher wages and less work in jobs to their constituency in return for the votes and support needed to prop up their union careers. All under the false premise of providing a “necessary” service.
The end result is lower productivity & revenue and, lazier/less educated workers. The reason that someone got into business and created jobs is subverted as the work is overpaid. The situation can’t sustain itself so the jobs go overseas or the business folds.
Congratulations, I give one of the cornerstones of our failing economy and our entitlist society.

Unions empower employees to act like children and get away with it. If our companies are going to compete internationally, we need to shed the bonds that union contracts create.

causality…
I was having the hardest time coming up with that word, lol, it was on the tip of my tongue..

I would agree in general.. but correlation does not equal causality.
