As Economy Worsens Obama Makes More Promises
Worried about the economy? Don’t worry, Obama’s got things firmly in hand. He issued a decree mandating the creation of 3 million jobs instead of just the 2.5 million he was requiring before.
Everything is gonna be alright.
WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama has increased his employment goal with the nation’s economic outlook worsening, seeking to create or save 3 million jobs in the next two years instead of the 2.5 million he proposed last month.
Obama set the more ambitious target earlier this week after meeting with top economic advisers who cautioned that the nation’s unemployment rate could exceed 9 percent given the current pace of job losses, Obama transition officials said Saturday.
During the presidential campaign, Obama pledged to create or save 1 million jobs. He increased that goal to 2.5 million over two years just last month.
So how’s Obama going to create these jobs? With a spending package worth a scary 5% of our GDP that will either force Obama to raise taxes higher than they already are (always a good idea during a recession, right?) or blow up our already exploded national debt.
Because that makes more sense than cutting tax and regulatory burdens on businesses. You know, the entities that actually create the jobs Obama’s talking about.
If Obama thinks he’s going to stimulate this economy by making bold promises about job creation and keeping taxes high to pay for CFL light bulbs in public buildings he’s in for a rude awakening.
Carternomics doesn’t work.
