Are You Paying Attention To Sotomayor?

With the Supreme Court confirmation hearings to begin next week, The North Dakota Judicial Confirmation Network will be closely watching the proceedings. At this point, the group’s leaders have not determined whether or not to urge opposition to nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor, but have urged Senators Conrad and Dorgan to ask tough questions, and avoid the temptation to rush this through, prior to the Senate’s August recess. After all, it is a lifetime appointment. It remains to be seen whether or not the group will urge our senators to support — or oppose — this nominee.
So far, things have been mellow, but with hearings, there is always potential for things to get very interesting. Today, for example, it was reported that Frank Ricci, one of the New Haven firefighters who was passed over for promotion due to a decision Sotomayor ruled on, while testify at the hearings. One can imagine Ricci’s involvement would ratchet the emotions up a notch or two.
I’m also hearing that property rights may become a big topic of discussion.
Sotomayor’s story has been overshadowed by stories like Michael Jackson, Mark Sanford, Sarah Palin, Healthcare, and Cap and Trade, but it would be a mistake to assume next week could be a snoozer. North Dakotans should watch closely to see whether or not they believe this judge has the judicial philosophy and temperament to be on the high court. And they should let Senators Dorgan and Conrad know how they feel.

Would that be the same ABA that had no problem with a eugenicist? Doesn’t blackwaterboob (the racist) claim to have a problem with eugenicists?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Is that the judge the ABA unanimously voted as well qualified?

The same ABA that voted Roberts and Alito well qualified?

    Rob,

It looks as if the answer to your question:

Are You Paying Attention To Sotomayor?

    is an unambiguous yes.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Look My Pet Turd if are you going to feed the trolls, then you’re going to have to stop whining about other people feeding the trolls.

What’s it going to be My Pet Turd?

You nutters really need to get your stories straight.

I’m going to help you all study for your SATs. First question:

“Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion.” is to Eugenics as Ocean is to…

    A) Lake
    B) Island
    C) Water
    D) Something that is not in any conceivable way even remotely similar to an ocean.

I’ll give you two guesses, but I think you only need one.

  • http://www.dartemis.net/blog/ sayanything-42

Only a product of modern academia such as sparkless-pig-fuckin-buckle the “pandering ninny” and apoligist for racists would characterize a racist, sexist, tax evading jurist as “mainstream.”

Good straw man My Pet Turd!

    Well done.

So you are back to feeding the trolls again?

    Here’s one right back atcha:

Of course I understand that party affiliation means nothing to you, right, right?

So name 3 liberal dems you would want to have on our Supreme Court.

  • http://www.dartemis.net/blog/ sayanything-42

    TehToad,

I see we have to start with definitions.

Eugenics is “the study of, or belief in, the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics).”

Preferentially aborting, as in to prevent “…growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion.” is indeed the active practice of eugenics.

    Here endeth the lesson.

Discussions of the “Roe Effect” fall into the category of a eugenics own side goal.

Sotomayor is a racist, who has been intimately involved with racist, Hispanic separatist organizations for decades. She has also been an aggressive, pro-abortion activist lawyer for years. Check out her involvement with La Raza (The Race) and Puerto Rican radicalism.

Add to that her frank statement that she views her function as a judge as MAKING POLICY–which is the function of LEGISLATURES, not judges–and you have someone who is INCAPABLE of swearing truthfully to uphold the Constitution of the U.S.

  • http://www.dartemis.net/blog/ sayanything-42

I guess this is the point where I’d insert my comment about “If the Republican’s hadn’t run a RINO this whole Sotomayor thing would be a non-issue” if I were to engage in “I told you so” politics.

    Yes I am. Are you?

Is that the judge the ABA unanimously voted as well qualified?

Does anybody old enough to buy beer still think the ABA is non-partisan? The trial lawyers have been the single biggest contributors to the Democrat party over the past 10 years. That ABA endorsement doesn’t mean shit!

Shouldn’t present and former bar members excuse themselves from judge nominations? They are hardly impartial.

Even given the often-noted collegiality of the Second Circuit, Judge Sotomayor has been in agreement with her colleagues more often than most – 94% of her constitutional decisions have been unanimous.

She has voted with the majority in 98.2% of constitutional cases.

When she has voted to hold a challenged governmental action unconstitutional, her decisions have been unanimous over 90% of the time.

Republican appointees have agreed with her decision to hold a challenged governmental action unconstitutional in nearly 90% of cases.

When she has voted to overrule a lower court or agency, her decisions have been unanimous over 93% of the time.

Republican appointees have agreed with her decision to overrule a lower court decision in over 94% of cases.

She overruled lower court and agency decisions at a rate that closely conforms to the circuit overall average.

Our analysis shows that – far from casting her as an “outlier” – Judge Sotomayor’s record is remarkably consistent with that of her colleagues. The analysis also refutes charges made since the day of her nomination that Judge Sotomayor is a “judicial activist.” Any honest reading of the facts make it abundantly clear that Judge Sotomayor is a mainstream jurist.

Is that the outfit she got from Fidel Castro that she’s wearing in the photograph?

Yes, it is. The idea is to let the Russians know that all those billions of rubles they spent supporting Castro all those years weren’t entirely wasted.

If you are a gun owner you better be paying attention to this Liberal activist Judge, she better not get a free pass from conservative and or Regan democrats.

  • Old Retired Petty Officer

I won’t get into the game most of you are playing against each other, so here is my .02 worth.
Sonia Sotomayor is a threat to the sovereignty and security of The Republic. This just from the few things an Old Seadog like me gets from the broadcast news and the web. I admit that I am not the most educated and not the sharpest drill bit in the tool box but I can read and comprehend what I read. I was brought up by School Teachers, after all and could read and write when I was four years old.
But in light of her past speeches, I would urge all citizens to approach her with caution. And let your Senators know in no uncertain terms that she is a threat, to all of us.
And for the cheap shot, maybe she was banging the AG?

  • http://magyartruth.blogspot.com/ Chief RZ

She is racist with her own remarks. If the reverse were the case, the NYT would be carrying him/her out on a rail. Mostly a him, especially if from an un-favored state or region.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Say Chief, were you able to read what I posted about Sotomayor’s record?

I’m just gonna go ahead and guess you couldn’t.

Let me help you out a bit and post some of them again:

94% of her constitutional decisions have been unanimous.

She has voted with the majority in 98.2% of constitutional cases.

  • pparets

I guess this is the point where I insert my “If McCain were president, Sotomayor would not be on her way to a seat on the Supreme Court” comment.

But then, I never indulge in “I told you so” politics.
    :)

  • pparets

Just out of curiosity, RGraves, which republican presidential candidate should the GOP have run, who would have made the Sotomayor thing a non-issue?

  • robert108

pp: McCain lost. We needed a real conservative to contrast with the Dem/leftie platform and who would have had the guts to expose Obama for what he is. Even with the tremendous bump Sarah gave him, McCain couldn’t close the deal with the American people.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Big 180, if the election was held today, who would you vote for?

  • robert108

Why do you ask, little parrot?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Besides McCain, I would like to know who you would vote for.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

I guess this is where I tell you both that America chose Barack Hussein Obama as president and for two elections in a row, we out more and more gops.

If your grapes are that sour, may I suggest a different fruit?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

So Big 180, no thoughts to share on who you would vote for if the election was held today?

  • robert108

Why do you ask, little parrot? I voted for Sarah last November. You seem to have trouble understanding that.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

    You voted for Sarah?

That’s not what you wrote just days after the election.

We all know who you voted for because you wrote a few comments telling us who you voted for…just days after the election, so let’s not go down that road, ok Big 180. And don’t make this all about how much you hate. It’s really a simple question. One that could lead to a nice chat.

Please try to give me an answer.

I’ll give it another try, Big 180…here goes:

Big 180, if the presidential election was held today, assuming your candidate won the primary and Obama sought a second term, who would you vote for?

  • robert108

That’s not what you wrote just days after the election.

Another lie from you, little parrot. I told you how and why I voted for Sarah, and you continue to lie about it, even though it’s irrelevant to anything else here. I have also smacked you with the truth about my voting for Sarah hundreds of times, but you seem to be very slow to absorb it. Even your usual cherry-picked statement confirms that I voted for Sarah.
I guess this is your little security blankie, because it sure makes you look like a little baby.

Can’t answer my question, little parrot? You are trying the same old bullshit distraction you always use.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

    I voted for him…

    robert108 on November 7, 2008 at 08:41 am

So Big 180, you seem to be avoiding answering my question.

If you don’t know who you would vote for, that’s ok, just say so and stop making this all about your hate.

  • robert108

Why do you ask, little parrot? Can’t answer that question? It might require you to be honest, for once in your lying life.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Why do you ask, why do you ask again?
I have answered you once already.

Why do you ask, little parrot?

    robert108 on July 10, 2009 at 06:06 am

Besides McCain, I would like to know who you would vote for.

realitybasedbob on July 10, 2009 at 06:10 am

If you are too scared to answer my question or if you have absolutely no clue as to who you might vote for today, just say so.

If you have a name, we might have a nice chat about that person instead of it always being about how much you hate.

  • robert108

That wasn’t an answer, little parrot. You just tried to be deceptive by asking the same question in a different way?
Why do you want to know, little parrot?
Since you have lied about me countless times, twisting and spinning my words, quoting me out of context and cherry-picking to deceive, you will have to make a very good argument for my giving you any personal information. When I told you once where I was driving, you tried to stalk me(real stalking, not criticism), and when I told you I was at Woodstock, you tried to stalk me again(real stalking, not valid criticism).
You are unable to absorb the fact that I voted for Sarah last November, so how can you pretend to want more information?
    Liars get cut off.

  • http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/ goon

    goon,

If the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee vote en bloc against her that’s the end of that nomination.

The right leaning senators need to not give this woman a pass, she is very dangerous for the SECOND ammendment, she can say tht she is for gun right BUT her actions are contrary to her said view. Also, Southernn Democrats need to hold her accountable as well and not bow to Reid and Pelosi. I hope they have some back bone.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

    I voted for him…

    robert108 on November 7, 2008 at 08:41 am

Your stalking allegations are laughable and not worthy of any more comment than that.

If you don’t have an answer, I certainly understand.

Two of your top guys just admitted to sexytime with women who are not their wives. Your gal Sarah just up and quit mid term. Some say that’s not what a person expected to be a contender in 2012 would/should do.

I’m not sure but I don’t think you are a Mittens fan. Pawlenty is a non factor, Jindal is weak.

Come on now Big 180, there must be someone out there you would vote for.

  • http://www.dartemis.net/blog/ sayanything-42
