Are You A Racist?

Take this simple test from Harvard to find out!

Comments

Rigged test.  They associate White people with Good things (and blacks with Bad) at the end of the test after you’re getting used to the rules of the game.

FYI I had a slight preference for White Europeans according to them, but I disagree with the premise of the test.  Mainly because I believe that it’s the individual that matters, NOT the group they belong.

Your data suggest little to no automatic preference between African American and European American.

I still think this is one of the stupidest tests I have ever taken.

This “are you a racist” test sets you up for failure so that you are racist against those who are African American. those that are European American are related to words that are good and the African American words are related to those that are bad. so basically your set up for failure and in the end everyone who takes the test is a racist. This test is to get you thinking and is a trick test

You mean I am a discriminating racist based solely on the fact that I am coordinately challenged?  rasberry

Well, I think the Europeans/Africans switch from good words to bad words later in the test.

I’m not even sure how the test determines whether you’re racist or not.  Frankly, I’ve always determined whether or not I like somebody by the things they say and do...and this test didn’t have anything to do with that.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

Guys, who here are conservatives and/or Republicans?  If you answered ‘I am’ or ‘yes’, you are racist.

Have a great day.

Read about this in Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking.

I’ll just say ‘yes’ and ‘so what?’

Boy, THAT sticks in their craw.

If you want to see racism, travel in any other part of the world and be White.

I still think this is one of the stupidest tests I have ever taken.

I arrived at that notion after seeing the first question.  There really is no African American or European American so it is invalid to lump everyone into one of these categories.

I have no idea what it would say about me, cause I ain’t adding to their personal information database. Guess that makes me a racist.

I think that instead of black faces, they should perform the same test only with oriental faces or with random alien pictures.  White European versus Alien.

Racism is not simply differentiating between races, but rather, through actions that create inequality between them.  One can have a personal preference for one group over another, but as long as they are not taking tangible actions that harm the other group, we should not feel guilty about perferring one over another.

BTW, Strong European talking, so I probably should be making my little justification for not feeling White Guilt at my Klan meeting before we burn some crosses and talk about our next Minuteman patrol weekend.

My brother in law is African American....and he is white.
So what’s he point of the question again?

Mickey on June 7, 2007 at 07:13 am

Such tests reflect the bias of those designing the test, even the definition of what is or is not racism reflects the bias of those designing these tests.

Everyone on earth, to varying degrees is a racist and everyone is a racist in a positive and negative sense.

I have a multi-cultural family, my grandson and best buddy is my African-American grandson; but, I am a racist, both with negative and positive racial feelings and at differing emotional levels.

So, I agree with Mickey, what is the point of this test?

Every question assumes the conclusion, more or less, that people are bigots.  In other words, our nation’s premier liberal arts university has set up a monstrous exercise in begging the question.

Maybe an introductory logic course is more their speed.

This was the most retarded test I’ve ever taken.  If I wasn’t racist before, I may be now after being programmed “Black Guy - Evil - Black Guy - Failure.” I think these idiots need some serious help.  I though Harvard was supposed to be a good school?

k_lunch on June 7, 2007 at 03:39 pm

You’re right.  This is the most stupid thing.  All it shows is that I’m a little slow in punching the right key.

Carol...You have an excuse for not being able to punch the key fast. (broken finger.) I hope you heal really fast! That is probably racist of me???

Zsa Zsa on June 7, 2007 at 05:57 pm

I have a strong preference for European Americans compared to African Americans. Hmmmm!
