Are The Obama Campaign And Daily Kos Complicit In A Birth Certificate Forgery

Personally, I thought the rumors circulating about Barack Obama’s Hawaiian birth certificate were put to bed when Daily Kos posted a copy of Obama’s birth certificate which the Obama campaign promptly acknowledged was genuine.

Now, however, some serious questions are being raised about the provenance of the birth certificate image posted at the Daily Kos.  An apparently government-trained documents expert named Jay Mckinnon has posted faked images of Hawaiian birth certificates on the internet, and those fakes share a lot of similarities to the image of the birth certificate purporting to belong to Obama:

One image created and posted by opendna is what he describes as a “blank template” of a State of Hawaii Certification of Live Birth. Only two data fields are filled in: the ISLAND OF BIRTH ("Oahu") and the HOUR OF BIRTH (7:24 PM). Neither of the images have a posted date stamp, but embedded EXIF information contains the time stamp of June 12 at 8:24am, the same day and time Daily Kos posted the purported Obama birth certificate.

Both images lack two salient characteristics present in the Barack Obama birth certificate images claimed by the Daily Kos blog and Obama’s “Fight the Smears” site. The Field under CERTIFICATE NO is blank whereas on the purported “Obama birth certificate” that area is blacked out as if to conceal a real number. In addition, the two documents posted to the opendna account lack the reversed date (June 6, 2007) that appears at the bottom of the purported “Obama birth certificate.”

However, the ISLAND OF BIRTH and the HOUR OF BIRTH is identical on the “Haye I.B Ahphorgerie” and blank certificates as well as the purported “Obama birth certificate,” which also claims 7:24 pm as the HOUR OF BIRTH and Oahu as the ISLAND OF BIRTH. The odds of an identical time occurring by chance in two certificates is 1440 to 1. Either the former is derived from the latter, or the latter is derived from the former.

If “Haye I.B Ahphorgerie” were derivative of the purported “Obama birth certificate,” it would have meant that—in a matter of minutes on the morning of June 12, 2008, opendna would have had to tracelessly erase all fields (save ISLAND OF BIRTH and the HOUR OF BIRTH), and to painstakingly remove the blacked out area near CERTIFICATE NO and the reversed date that appears at the bottom of the purported “Obama birth certificate.” Given the complexity of the background pattern, it would have been difficult to do this without leaving behind traces of the extractions. For what motive would one want to do this?

At first blush I thought the birth certificate controversy was rather silly.  Just another derivative of the constant furor over Obama’s funny-sounding name.  Like maybe some of the people demanding to see the birth certificate were thinking that if Obama’s real middle name turned out to be “Mohammed” his campaign might be sunk.

But this issue has serious consequences attached to it.  If it turns out that Obama wasn’t born in the United States, for instance, he may not be eligible to run for the Presidency.  The Obama campaign has been less than forthcoming about this birth certificate, despite rumors circulating about it for months now, and that’s only added to the controversy.  Why is the Daily Kos the only place where Obama’s birth certificate has ever appeared?  Why hasn’t Obama just issued his birth certificate, something that would both stop the rumor mills and make his critics look foolish for taking up the issue?

The questions deserve answers from Obama himself, I think, and until he provides them this controversy is only going to grow.

We can only hope!

Except: 1. I cannot believe he would be so stupid as to run and know he was not a natutal born U.S. Citizen, can you? 2. The Left, including Congress would so muddy the issue that he would be ending 8-years before any real facts emerged that could deny him the White House. 3. I wouldn’t put it pass the Left to make an emergency appeal to the states to amend the Constitution to allow him to run.

Sounds a lot like one of those nutty conspiracy theories.

It’s one of the primary requirements for POTUS, so it should be thoroughly investigated before this guy is allowed to run for the office.

Having worked in graphics for 30+ years, I was convinced by the earlier arguments that the certificate was a forgery, but then I was persuaded by others that it wasn’t a forgery after all. But, now I don’t know what to think, especially in light of this Larwyn email alert last night:

[.....]

Barack Obama is not a legal U.S. natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between December 24, 1952, to November 13, 1986. Federal Law requires that the office of President requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. Citizen parents. This is what exempts John McCain, though he was born in the US Panama Canal Zone.

US Law very clearly states: ‘. . . If only one parent is a U.S. Citizen at the time of one’s birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for minimum ten years, five of which must be after the age of 16.’ Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen is a fact.

Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born. This means even though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years, (or citizen of Hawaii being a territory), his mother fails the test for at-least-5-years- prior-to Barack Obama’s birth, but-after-age-16.

In essence, Mother alone is not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. Citizenship. At most, 2 years elapsed from his mother turning 16 to the time of Barack Obama’s birth when she was 18. His mother would have needed to have been 16 + 5 = 21 years old at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to be a natural-born citizen. Barack Obama was already 3 years old at the time his mother would have needed to be to allow him natural citizenship from his only U.S. Citizen parent. Obama should have been naturalized as a citizen . . but that would disqualify him from holding the office.

The Constitution clearly declares: Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President. Though Barack Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 10, any other information does not matter because his mother is the one who must fulfill the requirement to be a U.S. Citzen for 10 years prior to his birth on August 4, 1961, with 5 of those years being after age 16.

Further, Obama may have had to have remained in the USA for some time frame to protect any citizenship he might have had, rather than living in Indonesia. This is very clear cut and a glaring violation of U.S. Election law. I think the Governor Schwarzenegger of California should be very interested in discovering if Obama is allowed to be elected President without being a natural-born U.S. Citizen, since this would set a precedent. Stay tuned to your TV sets because I suspect some of this information will be leaking through over the next several days.

I wonder why no one is picking up on this, which seems more persuasive than the birth certificate flap. I haven’t had time to research it yet, so I’m wondering what others think. Valid argument? Not?

I’d also like to point out that the laws in Hawaii until 1972 were extremely relaxed in obtaining a certificate of birth, you could have been born anywhere and all you needed was to have knowledge of the facts of birth, Since the state of Hawaii was virtually new people were able to obtain what is called “Late” Certificate of Birth.

The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth program was established in 1911, during the territorial era, to register a person born in Hawaii who was one year old or older and whose birth had not been previously registered in Hawaii. The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth Program was terminated in 1972, during the statehood era.

“Who is Eligible to “Apply for Late Registration?

As provided by law (HRS §§338-15, 338-29.5), the following persons may apply for late registration: Any person born in Hawaii who is one year old or older and whose birth has not been previously registered in Hawaii, or that person’s parent, guardian, next of kin, or older person acting for that person and having knowledge of the facts of birth may request the registration of a late certificate of birth.”

What I find curious is under the law you can apply for one of these years after the birth as long as someone has knowledge of the facts of birth. After reading this I am wondering if Obama was really born in Hawaii if all that was needed was his mother’s say so. He could have easily been born in Kenya, brought back to the US and applied for a LATE Certificate.

Wouldn’t you think that Hillary’s camp would have already been all over this? Could be an interesting convention if they are sitting on some facts....

Good Ol Boy on July 5, 2008 at 08:21 pm

Good Ol Boy, I thought the same thing at first, but think about it. If she knows this to be true, what a stroke to wait until the vote at the convention and then make the announcement. It would be the biggest “get even” move in my lifetime.

The fallout would be gynormous, but to oust him from consideration by technicality would be delicious payback, since the nomination would fall to her, it would seem, by default.

The mind boggles at the impact.

They kept saying Hillary has a “nuclear option” but I doubt this is it.

On a simple level it doesn’t make sense to hold this in if it’s true. Hillary could’ve revealed it way back when...cinched the nod and had a ton of money to her name. Holding it to the convention screws everyone but McCain.

Obama/Biden is not change. It’s more of the same.

Kenny on July 6, 2008 at 01:29 am

But sitting on it until the convention would ensure that she would have a lock on the position as an alternate. Revealing it before then might allow an outcome not to her liking. Who the hell knows?

Face it, Obama wins in November.

Buzz has spoken! Call off the conventions! Call off the election!

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

O ye portender of doom, Buzz. Surely gloom and bitterness shall follow us all our days. Don ye now sackcloth and sprinkle thy head with ashes all ye who bend to a conservative wind, for thy bones are as dust, and thy flesh counts for nothing. Soon shall ye not be able to Say Anything, for the shadow of Obama wilt cast long across the valley of Truth.
WTF?

Good Ol Boy on July 6, 2008 at 06:48 am

When I posted the quote from the email about “the law,” I had not researched it personally. (I broke two ribs on the 4th of July and haven’t been feeling like doing much of anything.) I also posted the quoted email at Protein Wisdom, where RTO Trainer has pointed out that the law quoted is only operable for those born OUTSIDE the U.S. and that Hawaii law makes it moot citing 8 USC 1405.

Yeah, let’s never discuss controversial items and try to get to the truth. It is so much easier to just bend over and say “screw me” or blindly follow the lying left to oblivion.

I’d rather leap out of the pot.
