AP: Obama Faces Challenges Like Lincoln And FDR Did
This is getting ridiculous:
FDR? Lincoln?
Give me a break.
FDR came into office facing the worst economic crisis in this nation’s history. 25% unemployment. A disastrous drought decimating what was, at the time, the country’s primary industry (agriculture). Hundreds of thousands of people roaming the country looking for food, shelter and work.
Lincoln, on the other hand, faced a nation torn apart by slavery, weakened by the most bloody war this country ever fought and threatened by foreign interests that would have loved to swoop in and set up a hegemony over the shattered chunks of America once that war was over.
What’s Obama facing? 6% unemployment? Saber-rattling from a resurgent Russia? Please.
Obama’s a lightweight, and lowering the bar for him so that he can live up to the ridiculous expectations he created with his slick-but-superficial campaign isn’t going to change that.
