Anti-War Movement Loses One Of Its Most Powerful Voices

That voiced belonged to retired Major General John Batiste, who was seen previously opposing the Iraq war, calling for Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation and serving on the board of the far-left, anti-war VoteVets.org group.

Now he’s with Vets for Freedom, a pro-Iraq war group, and talking about the progress we’ve made in Iraq as well as the necessity for the mission.

A mission he now says we can be successful at.

One wonders how many more of these converts we’ll see as news of success in Iraq continues to come out.  I would think quite a few, both from people who are legitimately having a change of heart and from people who are simply finding being anti-war in the face of victory to be politically untenable.

Yes, but in this context:

“Third, the counterinsurgency campaign led by Gen. David Petraeus is the correct approach in Iraq. It is showing promise of success and, if continued, will provide the Iraqi government the opportunities it desperately needs to stabilize its country. Ultimately, however, these military gains must be cemented with regional and global diplomacy, political reconciliation, and economic recovery—tools yet sufficiently utilized. Today’s tactical gains in Iraq—while a necessary pre-condition for political reconciliation—will crumble without a deliberate and comprehensive strategy.”

There are presently very little signs of political progress and actually evidence of concern for a future national reconciliation to even happen:

Just how long will the window remain open:?

“A weak and unprofessional government hampered by rampant corruption and infighting is preventing sectarian reconciliation in Iraq, the country’s Sunni Arab vice president said on Saturday.

“In an attack underlining the deep divisions in Iraq, Tareq al-Hashemi said the government was failing at a time when marked security improvements were being made across the country.

“The political process has been built on myths and allegations,” Hashemi told Reuters on the sidelines of a security conference in Bahrain.

“I must be frank and the result of this political process is now a disputable constitution, a weak government and incoherent parliament,” Hashemi added.”

If the US military can’t succeed in Iraq, then what’s the point of having a military?
Just use the money for cleanup of all the future endless attacks on the homeland by the sub-human dirt bags.

Bingo, Kevin--in fact, why spend $4-500 billion on defense if putting it to use (for any bloody reason) is going to “divide the country” (Harry Reid, Barbara Streisand, Al Franken, Nancy Pelosi and most Democrats against normal people)--same with so-called intelligence-no point in having a Central Intelligence Agency that is ineffectual and politically wired to put the twisted world views of some of the numbskull lifers ahead of national interests (and would have that lyin’ weassel Valerie Flamer on the payroll), who, when they’re not trying to screw Bush, don’t get anything right anyway--another $50 billion--then there’s the US Weather Bureau, NASA, Dept. of Ed, NPR, EPA, and--jeepers, I’m getting myself all worked up.

Why would anyone believe anything the man has to say? He is a banner for all winds, and a stalwart of none.

The Republican fascists had better damn well hope for success, to make people forget the fact that this was an international war crime with no justification, not to mention all of screwups that directly led to the needless deaths of Americans and Iraqis.

This whole thing is sort of like if someone started my house on fire and then started throwing gasoline on the fire, and then much later someone else tried to put the fire out after it was already burned to the ground. According to neocon logic, I am supposed to consider it a success that my house is destroyed, but that someone finally sprinkled some water on it.

Socialist on December 9, 2007 at 09:55 am

The Republican fascists…

With all their constituent groups, it’s the Dems/lefties who are the fascists, which explains why they want to use “mandates” to implement their agenda.  The people wouldn’t choose them, if given that choice.
The need to use force is always a giveaway, domestically.

The only legitimate role of government with regard to economics is to prevent fraud and provide a remedy- civil and criminal penalties- in case of fraud.

People have the mistaken notion that the free market has no rules.  But it most certainly does.  All our problems are due to government meddling.

The ghost of Saddam Hussein? Is that you?

It sounds like we have the bloody tyrant here with us.

I love this lie from the left.
How can it be illegal when we had numerous countries with us to begin with - not to mention OUR CONGRESS voted FOR the war.

Take away THAT fact, and one could easily point to the fact that Saddam violated resolution after resolution (set by the sacred UN) from the Gulf war AND fired at our planes on a regular basis during what was supposed to be a “cease fire”, and I would say we were justified.

Just because you disagree with the war doesn’t make it “illegal” or un-just.

"Socialist” is just another word for “Ignorant jackass who parrots leftist tropes that s/he learned from reading anti-American shit at anti-American leftard websites.” Ignore it, and it will throw a hissy fit and go away.

It is illegal when it is a completely unprovoked strike on a country that did not attack us, and MOREOVER the justification for the attack turned out to be a pack of lies.

Everyone who supported this illegal act of fascist aggression, including every other country and every single Democrat who voted for it, is guilty of aiding and abetting war criminals.

Ignore it, and it will throw a hissy fit and go away.

Fascists judging socialists by their own cowardly characteristics - that’s called “projection” in the world of psychology. I as a neocon fascist am a cowardly weasel, therefore socialists are also cowardly weasels.

Oh, and the Christian Taliban, the prime constituent of the GOP, does NOT want to use mandates? Who is it that wants to pass a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, and force women to give birth who do not want a child, and to ban stem cell research?

Since when did the neocons start respecting the UN or any resolutions they pass? I thought the UN was irrelevant when it comes to the Bush Doctrine of shooting first and asking questions later?

Socialist on December 9, 2007 at 02:47 pm

Who is it that wants to pass a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, You can’t “ban” something that doesn’t exist.  A Constitutional Amendment isn’t a mandate; the amendment in question would simply define marriage the way is is now, which is the will of the vast majority.  The Dem mandates are to force the majority to bow to the desires of the minority special interest groups.  Big difference. and force women to give birth who do not want a child, If they didn’t want a child, why did they have vaginal intercourse?  You commies just want to absolve your groups from responsibility for their actions. and to ban stem cell research?  The only thing that was “banned” is using taxpayer funds to finance useless destruction of embryos.  The private sector can do it, but they don’t see any benefit from doing so.  That’s 0 for 3.

In fact, confiscation of taxpayer money to fund ESC research is a mandate for people to pay for something that doesn’t work.

Since the US is the only country who is able to enforce the otherwise toothless UN resolutions. I thought the UN was irrelevant when it comes to the Bush Doctrine of shooting first and asking questions later? Wrong on both counts.  The only reason the UN is relevant at all is due to the US.  We didn’t “shoot first”; the jihadists(including Saddam) shot first, and second, and third, and so on.  Saddam tried to assassinate our President and shot at our aircraft.  You just can’t seem to tell the truth, Socialist.

If we had a doctrine of “shoot first” you would be dead. Our doctrine is laugh at your ass first, then take a few cleansing breaths, and laugh at your ass some more.

My favorite part is how it keeps switching webpage addresses. What a maroon.

Absolutely not. I am not a liberal, I am a socialist. I have no use for diversity and tolerance, damn sure not for neocons.

If we had a doctrine of “shoot first” you would be dead.

Oh, thank you, that is so “Christian” of you.

And by the way, I have only used 2 websites, and I have stuck with the anti-confederacy one for quite awhile now. You should read “f” the south, it might enlighten you as to who the real Americans are. Hint: it ain’t the southern rednecks.

Socialist on December 9, 2007 at 09:18 pm

...damn sure not for neocons.

Wrong on two counts; I have been conservative longer than you have been alive, so I’m not a “new” conservative("neo" is Latin for “new”, btw), nor am I Jewish, which is what the term really means.  Most of the former lefties who have seen the light and have become conservative are Jewish.  Nice use of antisemitic smear, dude.

What an intelligent page!
Very well written - for a 6th grader. No facts, just the same tired liberal, oh I apologize, socialist rant. “Fuck this, fuck that, fuck everyone but me-me-me-me-me-me-me-me”.

That’s about the dumbest page I’ve ever seen anyone post as their url in a blog. It does, however, just about sum up the mind set of socialists and liberals. Just look at San Fran, if you don’t fall in line with their backwards thinking, they’ll create a law just for you.

Oh, and the Christian Taliban…

I love the way libs/socialists compare Christians to the Taliban and all the Islamic terrorist groups. Yeah dude, we’re chopping heads off with a butter knife on television every chance we get. Then they’ll say “What about the crusades? See Christians are just as bad”!

Don’t you realize, the very people you’re trying to “be fair” to and protect, are the same ones that will kill you and your family for JUST for not converting to Islam or for naming a toy Mohammed?

Last time I checked Christians are NOT forcing people to worship God or call Jesus the messiah. As a matter of fact, people like you are free to put a crucifix in a jar of piss and call it art, and WE THE TAXPAYERS fund it’s existence, even though over 70% of America believes Jesus was the messiah…

So keep talking about Christians as terrorists.

Islam and Christianity have been fighting for centuries and eventually one will win.
(I know socialists and liberals don’t like the concept of anyone “winning”, because that would mean one is better than the other - one is evil, one is good).

So, Mr. Socialist, which one do you want to see victorious?
Which one do you think will be more tolerant to you?

jakethedog on December 10, 2007 at 06:51 am

No, you have switched webpage addresses since posting here at least 5 times, fascist.com and FTS.com, so spare us your lies. You are just another whiny child. I have seen, and smelled, the end result of socialism, and it is not what you claim you want. Socialism is starvation and death. Period. Your braindead wish to live under dhimmitude is one of the funniest thing to ever grace this blog. But don’t worry! We will make no effort to silence you. That is what you Democrat morons do.

Wrong again. I said (quote) ‘I have only used 2 websites’, and those are the only 2 I have used. Just to humor you, though, I have another website, neofascist.org. You all neocons should love that one.

Other than that, nothing more to respond to. Just the same old neocon garbage.
