Another Marine To Sue Murtha

If Marine Col. Jeffrey Chessani is exonerated of the charges against him he may haul Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman John Murtha, into court, suing him for libel, one of his lawyers told NewsMax.com.
Brian Rooney, one of the attorneys at Michigan’s Thomas More Law Center representing Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani and a former Marine captain himself told NewsMax.com that his client, who is alleged to have failed to fully investigate the killing of 24 Iraqis in Haditha November, 2005 and not reporting an alleged Law of War violation, may follow the example of another Haditha Marine, SSgt. Frank Wuterich who is suing Murtha for libel.
Murtha set off a media firestorm last year when even before the matter had been fully investigated he charged members of Kilo Company, 3rd Bn, 1st Marine Regiment had gone on a rampage and slaughtered 24 Iraqi civilians in cold blood to avenge the killing of a member of their unit in an IED explosion. He also said that the incident occurred in the absence of any firefight, although it occurred as part of a day-long battle with insurgent ambushers that wounded 11 Marines.

This is what happens when politicians are more worried about scoring political points than the truth.

I hope they nail this bum. You were correct in saying he was more interested in scoring political points than the truth. He came out as soon as the accusations were made and called these men cold blooded killers while trying to blame Bush for making them into the killers. This man should resign in disgrace!

That will show Murtha its better to get the facts straight before you accuse Marines of killing people in cold blood. The soldiers in Vietnam should have sued John 3 months and out Kerry too.

Chief your right and Murtha defamed our hero in Iraq. The dems will stop at nothing to lose the war and surrender. If they had to do it at the expense of the soldiers they will.

Congressman Murtha may have been a Marine at one time in his life, though his web page and official Congressional bio make far more of his military "career" than he deserves. But Jack Murtha is no longer entitled to the honor of being a Marine.

He's a Democrat instead. And an unusually sleazy one at that.

Bat One: Despite Murtha's liberalism, his lies about the military and all the terrible things he has done, there is no such thing as an ex-Marine, only serving and former serving Marines, of which I are one of the latter.

I despise everything about the man and I don't disagree about his website pumping up his service; but I served in Vietnam and as did my brother, both former serving Marines; and I will defend his or any soldiers service in that hellhole, while at the same time I am sorry that he is repeating the very same sins the government committed against us in that war to my Marine grandson and nephew serving in Iraq today.

Fight Murtha, despise what he is doing, but remember there were no front lines in Vietnam and many fine men and women died there, many more were severely injured in mind and body and that includes my brother, and despite what he has done since, Murtha shared in that terrible experience with us.

With all due respect, a Marine does not leave a fellow Marine lying wounded on the field of battle… which is exactly what Jack Murtha has done, rhetorically speaking… repeatedly.

Murtha's service in Vietnam certainly entitles him to speak his mind on whatever opinions he holds. As does yours, as does mine, as does that of nearly 1.8 million surviving Vietnam vets, from John Kerry to Bob Kerrey. But his service then, honorable though it was, does not entitle him to betray the sacred commitment he made to every other Marine to wear the uniform, and still continue to call himself a Marine. By all accounts, Jack Murtha was a Marine and a hero. He is neither today.
