Another One Bites The Dust: Wisconsin Democrat David Obey Decides To Retire
Rather than run for re-election in this political environment which is becoming increasingly untenable for liberals.
The beat goes on.
With Obey’s retirement, Republican Sean Duffy suddenly finds himself the front runner in a race he was already campaigning hard in. Obey is in a very liberal district, meaning this is a big loss for Democrats.
Meanwhile, in a National Review article published yesterday Jim Geraghty counts as many as 90 Democrat House seats that have a chance of going Republican. If the GOP picks up even half of those seats, they regain the majority in the House.
Remember that article was written before Obey’s announced retirement. What’s more, that number goes to 99 once you start counting in the various special elections and run-offs.
An ugly election year for Democrats just keeps getting uglier.
