Ann Coulter Banned From NBC For Life?

So says Drudge.
I wouldn’t call a privately-owned television network’s decision to no longer engage a particular pundit or author for on-air political discussions a “ban.” That smacks of the same sort of shallow thinking that had the Dixie Chicks claiming they were “censored” because their fans stopped buying their albums after they aired their political publicly.
Rather, I think this is just another purposeful move to the left by NBC. I think the folks at NBC are looking at all the success Fox is having as the “right wing” television news outlet, so they’re trying to have the same level of success by being the “left wing” television news outlet. The move has been the most pronounced at MSNBC, with ultra-hacks Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews at the top of the lineup, but clearly the company is moving left across the board.
And axing Coulter is just a symptom of it.
Which is fine with me. I’ve never liked Coulter much anyway, but I’m sure she’ll continue to get plenty of air time on other networks and her books will continue to sell well because there continues to be a market out there for trite, mean-spirited partisan commentary.
On a related note, it’s funny that NBC is trying to be the left’s version of Fox News. Because Fox News, despite claims from the left to the contrary, really isn’t all that far right. Study after study indicates that the fairly centrist Fox News actually only appears to lean right because the rest of the media has a pronounced leftward bias.
Meaning that if NBC wants to set itself out as the source for liberal media, they’re really gonna have to go far left.

Ann Coulter to me is someone who says things that I say all the time, but I say them at three in the morning when I’m drunk as a monkey. She says them at three in the afternoon stone sober in bright daylight.

    P. J. O’Rourke

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

You seem obsessed with silencing someone who says things you can’t deal with.

She has the legal right to say the things she’s saying.

However her legal right to speak her mind does not make her comments appropriate, acceptable, or useful to political discourse, and does not exempt me from presenting my opinion of her.

    When someone defends him…

He was just awarded a seat in the United States Senate.

When somebody defends him here, Grappler. I don’t have time to troll the internet twenty-four seven, bitching about my government to people who can’t make a difference.

If I have a complaint, I’ll write my representative.

Like all the leftie hater trolls on this site? I don’t see ETH criticizing any of them. Hypocrisy.

What’s the point? DINO’s a caustic prick, and Bob, whom I actually enjoy political discourse with, is stuck in his ways.

Rule number one of the internet: “don’t feed the troll”.

Edwards then used HIS dead kid for political gain,

By wearing his son’s Outward Bound pin, and doing a few interviews? By your logic, McCain was taking advantage of fallen troops by wearing their dog tags.

just because he has sex with women does not mean he is not a faggot.

So, what you’re saying is that despite firm conjecture to the contrary, and a lack of hard evidence to support your theory, you still cling to the desperate hope that Edwards pitches for the home team?

I think Bin-Laden is a secret born-again Christian. He says he’s Muslim, and he acts like a radical Muslim, but since we can’t perform a polygraph test, that must mean the topic is open for discussion.

    Please.

As far as I can tell, Coulter is no more mean spirited or deliberately offensive than Bill Maher, Michael Moore, Maureen Down, Kieth Olberman or the probable junior Senator from Minnesota.

If Ann Coulter were a liberal directing her anger at conservatives, it wouldn’t even be an issue.

If Ann Coulter were a libral college professor, making the same kind of statements about conservatives in her classroom, she’d be given tenure and awards.

  • robert108

Like all other conservatives, she’s banned until she knuckles under to the leftie intimidation.

  • robert108

Nice rationalization, but no dice. Telling the truth about someone who is a rat is not “debasing” them. They debase themselves, but want to keep that hidden from everyone else. Ann shines the bright light of truth on them, and I guess you can’t stand that bright light either. Too bad.

  • 2Hotel9

And if they have her where that outfit their ratings will definitely “rise”!

  • MMA Grappler

Al Franken is trash too, and I’ll call him out when somebody defends him.

    When someone defends him…

He was just awarded a seat in the United States Senate. The party machine in Minnesota had to count a bunch of votes twice to make sure he got it.

This illustrates the difference between liberals and conservatives.

Liberals are so proud of their hate filled goons that they reward them with positions of power and prestige.

Conservatives try to dissasociate themselves from everyone who gives it back to the liberals.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

And on that note, I dislike most of the people she has insulted, threatened and debased, and think they’ve all made some very poor decisions, but as for my supposed “cherry picking”. I will always stand up for a person who is being unfairly attacked, whether I like their personal life or not.

  • robert108

    ETH: Nice cherry-picking!

  • Dadzilla

All the Maroons at NBC did was prove Ann right and to give her free publicity so that more people will read her books. Nobody disproves her factually they just say “she’s mean”. Note to NBC: being critical of the president is supposed to be the job of an unbiased media but you guys haven’t known that since the news became “infotainment” and the talking heads became “celebrities” and pissed away their credibility trying to influence presidential elections.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

    It doesn’t matter.

Al Franken is trash too, and I’ll call him out when somebody defends him.

You don’t make fun of someone’s dead kid. It’s not right. Are you so callous that you miss this somewhere?

  • robert108

The lefties have done untold damage to this country, and Ann skewers them for it. We need a lot more like her. Too bad you’re not man enough for the job. Keep whining.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

Thanks, because if you’d like, on top of posting the entire transcript between Coulter and Edwards’ wife, I can provide a full video of the event.

My question to you is, why defend her? She’s good at muckraking, yes, but above, un-cherry-picked, I’ve given you an example of her hateful vitriol.

She makes fun of a couple who lost their son at age sixteen, because she doesn’t like their politics. If you want coulter as the standard-bearer for your politics, that’s your loss, but I for one won’t lower myself to her level.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

    Untrue statement numero uno:

In a March 2 speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), right-wing pundit Ann Coulter said she “can’t really talk about” Democratic presidential candidate and former Sen. John Edwards (NC) because “you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot.’ ”

He cheated with a woman. clearly not a “faggot”. I beleive that’s a valid antithesis. I’ve found something she said that, on top of being hate-filled ad hominem, is untrue.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

And if that didn’t make you sick to your stomach:

Edwards: You wrote a column a couple years ago which made fun of the moment of Charlie Dean’s death, and suggested that my husband had a bumper sticker on the back of his car that said ask me about my dead son. This is not legitimate political dialogue.

Coulter: That’s now three years ago –

Edwards: It debases political dialogue. It drives people away from the process. We can’t have a debate about issues if you’re using this kind of language.

Coulter: Yeah why isn’t John Edwards making this call?

Matthews: Well do you want to respond and we’ll end this conversation?

Edwards: I haven’t talked to John about this call.

Coulter: This is just another attempt for –

Edwards: I’m making this call as a mother. I’m the mother of that boy who died. My children participate — these young people behind you are the age of my children. You’re asking them to participate in a dialogue that’s based on hatefulness and ugliness instead of on the issues and I don’t think that’s serving them or this country very well.

Disgusting revolting woman. Hearing she had her jaw wired shut was like a christmas miracle for me.

    .

Ann Coulter is the only media personality (besides Sean Hannity), who has the conservative guts to tell it like it is, without soft-peddling and mincing words! Mean-spirited? Never! She’s a hoot – her irreverent sense of humor mocking liberal’s nonsensical idiocy and exposing their hypocrisy and shifty underhanded tactics, is not mean-spirited, IMO! Frankly, she needs her own show on Fox News and so we can really experience hardball reporting (misnomer a/k/a Chris Matthews)!

I haven’t really watched MSNBC in a long time and stopped even flipping to it after their lying/sleazy pre-election coverage and love-affair with Obama became so nauseous. The last straw was when ole’ Chris started getting a tingle up his leg over the “ONE.” Now I can strike NBC and affiliates off my list as well. I hope all conservatives blacklist them!

It had just gotten one of the black actors sent to rehab on the show “Grey’s Anatomy” for calling one of the homosexual actors a “faggot” on the set(not on the air). I guess you only support free speech when you like what someone says, then?
With your obvious prejudice, I can see why you missed the irony in her statement. You seem obsessed with silencing someone who says things you can’t deal with. Too bad.

OK, Eddie, let’s go down your list. We have, in order:

A bad end note. (Incorrect citation doesn’t make one incorrect.)
Parsing. EVERY News outlet, without exception, gets things wrong. That they corrected themselves AND gave everyone a meeting on correctly reporting news proves they weren’t committing a hoax.
Some stuff about the Swift Boat Veterans that I’ll have to look up on a crdible source.

I’ve found something she said that, on top of being
    hate-filled ad hominem, is untrue.

    Again, you are wrong.

    Um… no.

    It was a hateful statement.
It was an attack on the person, rather than his actions.
    It is false.

    Correct in all three assertions.

If you want to split hairs with me, we can play that game.

ETH: If you can’t find anything she says that’s untrue, you’re just a tender soul who can’t stand the truth. Sad.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

    * Liberals’ purported “praise[]” for hoaxers for staging hate crimes. Coulter claims that two black students who engaged in a hoax by hanging a black doll from a noose were “immediately praised” by “liberals,” but the sources she cites do not support this claim.

    * On Page 15, Coulter writes, “Fox News has never been caught promoting a fraud — unlike CBS (Bush National Guard story), ABC (tobacco industry report), NBC (exploding GM trucks), CNN (Tailwind), and MSNBC (Keith Olbermann).” In fact, as Media Matters has documented, on several occasions since 2004, Fox News has issued a retraction and apology for airing a news report that repeated false information, one of which led Fox News’ Vice President for News John Moody to reportedly warn staff in January 2007 that “seeing an item on a website does not mean it is right. Nor does it mean it is ready for air on FNC.”

    * Coulter advances several falsehoods about Kerry in defending the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, an organization which spread numerous falsehoods and smears regarding Kerry’s military record in the six months leading up to the 2004 presidential election.

    * Coulter falsely claims that “the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth weren’t forced to retract any part of their story. [Page 100]” In fact, the organization altered its website’s account of the December 2, 1968, mission for which the U.S. Navy awarded Kerry his first Purple Heart three days after Media Matters noted that the account was inconsistent with that of the group’s star witness — retired Rear Admiral William L. Schachte Jr., who claims he was the commander on that mission.

    * Coulter also suggests that the media ignored the allegations of the Swift Boat Veterans, writing, “The only way they could have gotten less attention would have been to be interviewed on Air America Radio.” By the time the Swift Boat story had played out, CNN, chasing after ratings leader Fox News, found time to mention the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth –hereafter, Swifties — in nearly 300 separate news segments, while more than 100 New York Times articles and columns made mention of the Swifties. And during one overheated 12-day span in late August, the Washington Post mentioned the Swifties in page 1 stories on Aug. 19, 20, 21 (two separate articles), 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31.

    * Coulter also falsely suggests that no witnesses supported Kerry’s account that his convoy came under enemy fire during the March 13, 1969, actions for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.

    * Coulter writes that Kerry “carrie[d] a home-movie camera to war in order to reenact combat scenes and tape fake interviews with himself” during his tour in Vietnam [Page 100]. Coulter was repeating a discredited charge previously made by Internet gossip Matt Drudge and subsequently echoed by The New York Times and numerous cable and radio outlets during the 2004 presidential election.

    * Coulter devotes four pages of Guilty [173-176] to discussing her false assertion that “Obama himself compared Palin to a pig and then denied doing so.” In fact, Obama’s September 9, 2008, statement, “you know, you can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig,” did not refer to Palin, but rather to how a “list” of Sen. John McCain’s policies were, according to Obama, no different from President Bush’s. Obama did not mention Palin in at least the 65 words preceding his “lipstick on a pig” comment, as Media Matters noted. Moreover, the expression “lipstick on a pig” is common political rhetoric — Obama had reportedly used the expression in the past, and McCain used it in 2007 in reference to Sen. Hillary Clinton’s health-care proposal.

All of which, are I believe, from her newest book: “Guilty”.

  • 2Hotel9

eddie, Edwards used people’s dead babies to make himself vastly wealthy, and laughed about the fact that he got the majority of the settlement money from each of them, leaving those families with nothing more than a dead baby.
