And You Thought Cheney Was The Only One

Looks like quail-hunting accidents are on the rise.

Its like an eerie coincidence:

Two Beauregard Parish motorists were accidentally shot in the face on Saturday by a quail hunter near Dry Creek.

A group of three men were hunting quail southeast of Dry Creek around 4 p.m. Saturday when a pickup truck with two men inside stopped to watch the hunters' birding dogs.

A bird flushed out of the brush and flew toward the truck. One of the hunters swung around and shot at the bird, hitting both driver and passenger with pellets through the truck's open window.

The two injured men, who were not identified by the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, drove themselves to a Kinder hospital. The driver, who is from DeRidder, was hit with two pellets in the face. The passenger, who is from Kinder, was hit by three pellets in the face.

Our only explanation? Karl Rove is trying to deflect attention from Cheney's attempt to remove Plame from the front pages with a well-timed spurt of bird shot, Suge Knight-style, in Louisiana. The location gives it a little panache--distracting the local media from the Katrina damage.

Or something like that.

These sort of swing-and-shoot accidents are pretty common.  It is no excuse for Cheney who is still ultimately responsible for pulling the trigger, but even people who have been hunting birds for decades make this mistake.

It happens.  It ain’t a good thing, but we’re all human.

"In 2004, Texas’ 1 million-plus hunters were involved in 29 hunting-related accidents, four of which were fatal.

The overall accident rate, 2.7 per 100,000 licenses sold, is the lowest since TPWD began keeping accident records in 1966, when the rate was 12.6. From 1999 to 2003, the accident rate was 4.02 per 100,000 licenses.

"Alcohol was a factor in only two of the 101 total hunting accidents reported during the past three years, TPWD records show."

That would make Dick one in  a million.

Woof, alcohol wasn’t an issue in Cheney’s accident.

And nobody is saying this is an every day occurance.  We’re just saying that it happens.  Every year across the nation there are accidents like this one.  That this one happened to the vice president doesn’t make it any different than the rest.

Unless you have a partisan axe to grind, I guess.

Oh just drop the subject. Not worth talking about it. Accidents happen.

I think most of us here would like to see the issue dropped.  Now if only the media/left would drop it.

LMND, it is not"in" his heart, it is against the outer wall in the upper right quadrant. You should know there is nothing in the heart of a lawyer but blackness. Sorry Darling Girl, that one was just bursting to get out. Can not believe people have ignored it this long. Kiss feet, forgiveness please!

If you are discussing the hunting accident instead of the hysterical reaction of the media, then they have won the argument.

There is no argument. He accidentally shot a hunting companion. It would only be an argument if the facts were in dispute.

What kind of barbarous asshole kills defenseless animals for fun in the first place?

It takes a truly fucked-up person to take joy in the painful and pointless death of a feeling, living creature.

And I got five bucks says Cheney had a hard-on when he shot that guy in the face.

Don: That’s it!  If you disapprove of something, the rest of us should not do it! You have never been so clear about your Stalinist belief system.  Your worldview is the only one that counts.  I understand that now.  Please don’t kill the rest of us for not subscribing to your ideology.

Don Myers (the king of irony) says, Keep throwing insults and non-sequiters, boys. After all, what else have you got?

Hahaha! If that doesn’t describe you to a "T", I don’t know what does.

Here’s a challenge to anybody reading - find just one comment that Don Myers has made where he didn’t insult.

Probably all the comments where I make a point and back it up with evidence---something I’ve never see bob or lik do.

BTW, y’all are avoiding my question---how fucked-up do you have to be to kill a defenseless animal for fsun. Not for food, but because the death agonies of another creature give you pleasure?

Don,...Are you a vegetarian? Do you wear leather shoes? Are you getting far too emotional about Dick Cheney because of your political affiliation? There are other fish to fry. Take a deep breath and let this unfortunate hunting accident go. This is no longer an issue. Why beat a dead horse? So to speak? Move on. Certainly you have other issues that you could argue?… THIS IS A NON ISSUE.

I can tell you that I’m adding you to my reading list and forwarding the address to “the kids” - none of which are actually kids, so keep on cussin about bird-shot or whatever if need arises.

Don,...What kind of a fu!!!!!?? person do you have to be to go out and kill a defensless animal for "fsun"? Since time began men were hunters. Dick Cheney was hunting for quail and pheasant. I am sure he eats them! Many people do. This is not unusual. Are you wearing a belt? Do you have a leather watch band? Do you eat chicken or turkey? Really Don, you are making a NON ISSUE look like a liberal democrat vendetta! Relax. You are an angry man. What good is it doing anyone to rehash an unfortunate hunting accident? I am going to go out on a limb and guess you eat Pork?…

Don: What you call evidence is just you linking to other ideologues who believe as you do.  That isn’t evidence, it’s just parroting views of others.  Just for once, make a common sense argument that holds water.  If you can, that is.  I didn’t answer your "question" because it isn’t a real question.  You are simply bloviating on your personal beliefs.  I don’t agree with you.  That is my answer.  Your characterization of the VP and other hunters is yours, and you are entitled to your opinion.  That’s all it is.  I don’t agree with your premises, so I reject your conclusions.
