Mr. Hope was an awesome man. He truly gave of himself in regard to the troops. He befriended my uncle when he was stationed in Alaska. They hung out and exchanged Christmas cards for many years. He really made an impression on my uncle. If you’re ever in New Jersey, stop by his place and he’ll talk your ear off about it.

I met Hope many years ago at the top of the Nugget Hotel-casino, South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He was very cordial, invited me to sit with him in a booth in the bar area near George Liberace’s band stand. An agent type and a beautiful, busty young lady were with him at the time. We talked for about 2-3 minutes, he signed an autograph for my sister and brother-in-law and was terribly impressive to me because of his lack of ego when approached by his fans. It was one of the very special memories in my life.
