American Public: No More Stimulus For Us, Please
The Democrats may have managed to ram-rod through the first “stimulus” spending spree with as little debate and transparency as possible on rails greased with fear of economic armageddon fanned by the liberals and their mouthpieces in the media, but the public doesn’t seem willing to be fooled again.
At least not according to this poll.
Just 27% of voters nationwide favor passage of a second economic stimulus package. The latest Rasmussen Reports nationwide telephone survey found that 55% are opposed and 19% are not sure.
Despite the public opposition, 74% say it’s likely that Congress will try to pass another stimulus plan before the year is out. That figure includes 45% who say it’s Very Likely that Congress will do so…
Forty-three percent (43%) of Democrats favor a second stimulus package while 32% are opposed. Republicans oppose the concept by an 8-to-1 margin. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 59% are opposed to a second stimulus plan while 23% are in favor of it.
I think the Democrat spending spree is about ready to come to an end, although their plan to aggressively pursue as much of it as possible early in Obama’s administration to both leverage his honeymoon with the public and to take advantage of a post-housing collapse shell shocked public (and I really mean take advantage) has worked out beautifully. They’ve created and expanded more government under the first 50 days of Obama, and a heavy cost to we taxpayers, than the Democrat congress managed to get in two years under Bush.
