American Deaths In Iraq Fall To Lowest Ever Since Beginning Of The War

It’s almost like our objective of a secure Iraq with a representative government is, uh, completed or something.

BAGHDAD (AP) – U.S. deaths in Iraq fell in October to their lowest monthly level of the war, matching the record low of 13 fatalities suffered in July. Iraqi deaths fell to their lowest monthly levels of the year. Eight of the 13 Americans died in combat, most of them in northern Iraq where al-Qaida and other Sunni insurgent groups remain active. The U.S. military suffered 25 deaths in September and 23 in August.
In Afghanistan, meanwhile, 15 U.S. military deaths were reported for October. The monthly toll in that combat theater had been in the 20s since June, when 28 Americans were killed – the worst one-month total since that war began in late 2001.
The sharp drop in American fatalities in Iraq reflects the overall security improvements across the country following the Sunni revolt against al-Qaida and the rout suffered by Shiite extremists in fighting last spring in Basra and Baghdad.

On a related note, 2/3′s of Iraq is now under the direct control of the elected Iraqi government.
Just more evidence to show how painfully, horribly wrong Obama and the rest of the liberal left who said this war couldn’t be won were. Victory is at hand in Iraq, but nobody in the media cares because that might screw up their narrative on the war from the past five years.
And it obviously would be a terribly inconvenient thing to focus on right before the election.

We won? Awesome. Now we need a timetable to bring our troops home…something like that proposed by President Obama and Prime Minister Maliki.

Wether the left wants to acknowledg this or not this is a big deal.

We have won! Why doesn’t Bush just declare victory before leaving office and declare all troops still there to be on a peacekeeping mission?

I think he should as well…
Neiman aren’t you from PA? If so I hope your getting your folks out to vote…

Notice that the resident leftists at this site, those same ones who proclaimed for years that the war was “unwinnable” and “already lost” do not comment on Iraq anymore? If they do comment, it is only to say that we should have never gone in.

Compelling story, but the soldier in the photo isn’t a US soldier.

No, I am from the Homosexual State!

    1. Comrade Obama is NOT yet President!
    2. Arbitrary Timetables are designed to encourage an enemy, while the BUSH TIMETABLE of conditions of the ground makes for an orderly withdrawal and does not encourage the enemy.
    3. Obama only asked for and promised appeasement, unilateral surrender and a timetable to allow him to appeal to the lunatic Left Wing fringe.
