Amateur Hour Continues: Obama Meets The Queen, Gives Her An iPod
Well, that’s marginally better than the DVD’s he gave British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, I guess.
President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama met today with Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace in London.
Details are still emerging from the private meeting, which is expected to last 20-30 minutes and take place over tea, but a few tidbits have begun to come out. According to Time, the president gave the queen an iPod as a gift; it contained footage of her visit to the United States in 2007.
A reader emails: “It’s one thing that Obama doesn’t get it. It’s quite another that none of his handlers seem to get it either.” That’s a good point, though personally outside of the laugh factor I don’t really care what Obama gives other world leaders as gifts. But after eight years of Bush being mocked as some sort of out-of-touch rube who didn’t fit in with the intellectual and political elite of the international community, I would like to see the hypocrites on the left stick it to Barry a bit. But they won’t. Because he’s their messiah, and they’re incapable of criticizing anyone on their “side.”
Anyway, rumor is Obama’s going to get French President Nic Sarkozy a Wal-Mart gift card.
Update: Apparently, the Queen already has an iPod according to the Telegraph.
