Amateur Hour Continues: Obama Gives British Prime Minister DVD’s As A Gift
It’s traditional for foreign leaders meeting for the first time as the representatives of their respective countries to exchange gifts. So when Prime Minister Gordon Brown came to America to visit Obama (once the snow delays cleared) he brought Obama an ornamental desk pen holder made from the oak timbers of Victorian anti-slaver HMS Gannet, once named HMS President. A thoughtful, unique gift.
Obama, on the other hand, gave Prime Minister Brown some…uh…DVD’s.
Gordon Brown has been given a collection of 25 classic American films on DVD as his official gift from Barack Obama.
The Prime Minister flew home from his successful trip to Washington this morning with the ’special collector’s box’ of films hidden in his luggage.
No 10 had tried to keep the present a secret, refusing to answer reporters who asked what President Obama had given to mark the reaffirmation of the special relationship.
Like the teleprompter thing this isn’t a huge deal, but again after 8 years of seeing Bush derided as an ignorant red neck – and after seeing Palin tarred and feathered as some sort of retarded country bumpkin – it’d be nice to see Obama held to the same standard.
Can you imagine the way the left would hoot with derision if Bush had given some visiting dignitary a bunch of DVD’s? Obama won’t suffer that. Because he is The One, and is held to a different standard.
By the way, summary of Brown’s visit to America: Snubbed at the airport because of “snow,” and sent packing with nothing to show for his efforts but a bunch of movies he could have stayed at home and downloaded from iTunes.
And the left called Tony Blair Bush’s lap dog. It’s a wonder Obama didn’t make this guy eat in the kitchen.
