Allen Vs. Webb Or Marx Vs. Jefferson?

I don’t know about the rest of you, but any candidate for political office who starts quoting, or even paraphrasing, Karl Marx or Friedrich Engels to explain his policies to voters ought to be run out on a rail.

There is no place for socialism in America’s politics.

During the 2004 Presidential campaign, the Dem VP candidate continually referred to “Two Americas”, which meant labor and management, which is classic Marxism.  Nobody seemed to notice.
As a historical note, Hitler also included the return to an agricultural economy as a prominent feature of his Third Reich.

The only legitimate role of government with regard to economics is to prevent fraud and provide a remedy- civil and criminal penalties- in case of fraud.

People have the mistaken notion that the free market has no rules.  But it most certainly does.  All our problems are due to government meddling.

Where is the Marxism from the one of the most highly decorated Vietnam vetrans and former Secretary of the f’n Navy?

The only Webb quote in the AP story.

“Today we are at risk of being cut away from our government,” he said, citing “31,000 lobbyists who circle around our 535 elected representatives.”

Even highly-decorated soldiers can be misguided in their politics, Woofie.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

interesting fact:

if Webb wins, the state of Virginia would have two former U.S. Secretary of the Navy as Senators.

I was a little disappointed that no examples were provided...in fact I shouldn’t believe that he did paraphrase Marx and Engels because I have to rely on the word of the AP that he did and that would be foolish of me.

That would indeed be foolish to do Mike.

I don’t think the AP reporters even know enough to recognize their own leftist ideology when they see it.

They seem to get so much wrong, I don’t know why leftism would be spared.
