All I Want For Christmas

Is a true conservative leader for the Republican party.  Someone that represents the conservatives a lot better than the presumed candidates:

John McCain
Rudy Giuliani
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich
Condi Rice
George Pataki
Jeb Bush
George Allen
Sam Brownback

There are no conservatives left in the party… there are only big government Republicans and open borders nuts. Anyone even remotely resembling a conservative ends up declared an apostate by Karl Rove.

Newt Gingrich is running for president.

Granted, he’s not yet an official candidate, and, if you ask him whether he’s running, he--like virtually everyone eyeing the White House this early in the process--will deny it.

But, as soon as that denial leaves his lips, Gingrich, unlike other presidential candidates, will not-so-subtly undercut it--inviting you, for instance, to ask him again in August, when he’ll be in Iowa glad-handing at the state fair.

Because, as Gingrich himself seems to realize, the notion that he is running for president is, at least at first glance, unbelievable.

I thought Romney was about as conservative as you could get?

Despite appearances, I got no problems with bona fide conservatives, and would be relatively pleased with a President Newt or Mitt.  Newt is whip-smart (but probably unelectable - that’s the perverse nature of our political system: being shmaht and outspoken is more a liability than an asset); Mitt, hopefully, is a good federalist.

Pataki?  He’s destroyed the already-awful NY GOP.  Brownback is insane; Allen is a hack; Rice seems smart but her policies are an unknown; and Bush is a Bush.

Mitt, hopefully, is a good federalist.

Try not to get your hopes up too high. He openly mocks those who have any respect for the concept of federalism.
