Alex Rodriguez Earns More Than Entire Marlins Roster

Woah . . . this is some serious cash:

NEW YORK – Alex Rodriguez makes more this year than his hometown Florida Marlins. Boosted by his new deal with the New York Yankees, A-Rod tops the major league baseball salary list at $28 million, according to a study of contract terms by The Associated Press. The 33 players on the Marlins’ opening-day roster and disabled list total $21.8 million.

Yes, there is no crying in baseball.

Wow. Looks like Alex has done pretty good for himself. Gotta love are capitalistic system that gives people the chance to make it big.

Gotta love the MLB Players Union,
    and Curt Flood.

Just think of all the income taxes he pays at the top rate.

  • http://dougeefargo.blogspot.com/ dougee

Yeah, I wonder how many freeloaders he supports with that. I can't wait for the liberal media to start talking about how he doesn't deserve that high of a salary likes its their money!

Where are the Dems with a windfall profits tax on this guy?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/ likwidshoe

One player can get 28 million, yet they still tap on the taxpayers' shoulders every time they want a new ballpark?

Where's my taxpayer subsidized ballpark ticket?

Bastards. The MLB cartel can go take a flying leap off of a cliff. Welfare cheats.

Likwidshoe. Yes! Where are the congressional hearings about welfare for baseball? One person posted a 364 times the average salary for an elected CEO.
This guy earns 560 times an average salary of $50,000. Now if only I could remember his name? RBB perhaps?

Why isn't the government doing something about this?

Cheap shot RZ, even for you.

    Baseball is not civil defense.
Call me when baseball players are paid with our tax dollars.
    We'll talk.

Why isn't the government doing something about this?

Because it is not the government's job regulate a player's salary!!! Would you like the government to tell you how much you can earn for a living. If the answer is no then quit bitching.

Why isn't the government doing something about this?

I think the question was sarcastic, dougee. After all, if the Dems want to control CEO salaries, why aren't they trying to control this guy's salary?

  • robert108

dougee: BTW, MLB is a govt allowed monopoly. It faces no competition.

If it was sarcastic them I apologize. But I am just saying that it is not the government's job to regulate salaries. They don't have the authority under the constitution to do so…end of story

Since MLB is a govt sanctioned monopoly, the case could be made for govt control of its salaries. It's not a free market, you know.
I'm not saying I favor that; it's just hypocritical for the Dems to call for regulation of CEO salaries, which are in the free market, and not call for regulation of salaries in other markets which aren't free, like MLB.

    I completely agree robert.
