Al Sharpton’s Ancestor’s Were Strom Thurmond’s Ancestor’s Slaves

I guess that’s why they never got along.

NEW YORK - Genealogists have found that civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton is a descendent of a slave owned by relatives of the late Sen. Strom Thurmond, a newspaper reported Sunday.

The Daily News said professional genealogists, working at the newspaper’s behest, recently uncovered the ancestral ties between one of the nation’s best known black leaders and a man who was once a prominent defender of segregation.

“I have always wondered what was the background of my family,” the newspaper quoted Sharpton as saying. “But nothing — nothing — could prepare me for this.”

How much do you want to bet that the Thurmonds were voting Democrat at the time they owned slaves?  I can pretty much assure you that they were, given that the Republican party was the abolitionist party at the time.  But I’m not expecting that little tid-bit of information to make it into reporting anywhere.

Nor do I expect any researchers to go poking into the slave-owning history of, say, Robert Byrd’s family.

Comments

I always suspected Rev. Al was a cottonpicking idiot at heart, now documentary proof! Maybe Al was Strom’s relative, you know those slave owners messed with their female slaves a lot. How about Rev. Al Thurmond for President?

How about the slave owning or KKK memberships in Billy Jeff’s family tree?

No sense of humor Joel?

I can joke around even on the Lord’s day!

I wonder why?  Could it be...oh, I don’t know...racial politics?

Does this have anything to do with what’s going on today.

How about the story about Barak Hussein Obama’s family captured Sharptons and sold them to the slave traders.

I just made that up and it wouldn’t matter at all if it was true.

[W]hat you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The entire point is moot, anyway.  Most people forget that the Africans sold their own people into slavery.  Yep.  So, who should they be pissed at?

Hey Rob, I was wondering if you could check into my confirmation email? I registered yesterday afternoon, and I haven’t got it yet.  I also sent you an email....

So the above being a joke, you don’t believe or suspect that Rev Al is an idiot or a bastard.
In other words Sharpton has ironclad credentials?

Just to see how Rev Neiman will respond.

So, ellinas; you admit you are both lying and trolling.

My ancestors were slaves and were freed in 1858 a few years before Al Sharpton’s ancestors.

Where is my apology?  Should Putin do it? What kind of reperations am I entitled too?

Troy
I think you should demand financial compensation. Do you feel ‘kept down’?

I do!  The Russians have all that oil money now, I should be compesated because my family members were slaves.

Ellinas: This story inspired some innocent humor, that is it!

There is no purpose served in answering your rather juvenile accusations!

Ah, the family secret might even go deeper than that!

Great-great Grandpa Thurmond mighta’ took to Kizzy Sharpton, back behinds dee cornbin, and begat ‘Chikken- George’ Sharpton.  Younger Thurmond also had a roving eye.  Obviously they didn’t relegate their activities just to jumpin down, turnin roun an pickin a bale o cottn, sho nuff!

Yahhhhh suhhh!

Neither lying nor trolling. I am/was very curious as to how Neiman would respond.

Now hold on Sir. I have not accused you of anything.

ellinas: You were trolling for a response from Nieman, and to accomplish that, you misrepresented your beliefs, which is lying. You knew exactly what you were doing, and you did it on purpose.

Are we forbidden from probing people for answers?

Calling you on what you are doing has nothing to do with forbidding you to do anything.  That is childish.  You get to do whatever you want, and if it is dishonest and/or unethical, expect to get called on it.  Making a false representation of what you believe to try to call forth a response is both lying and trolling.  Get it?  Do those things at your own risk.
I have no interest in silencing you; I’m just calling you on what you do. It’s your choice, after all.
