Al Gore To Raise Global Warming Awareness By Killing Lots Of Trees

Anyone else finding it ironic that global warming disciple is spending $300 million on print advertising, among other types of promotion?

Former Vice President Al Gore is starting a three-year $300 million publicity campaign to increase public awareness of climate change through ads in outlets like Men’s Health, Real Simple, Ebony, Scientific American, Wired, “American Idol” and “The Daily Show.”

The campaign is spearheaded by Gore’s group, the Alliance for Climate Protection, which is forming partnerships with groups like the Girls Scouts, the United Steelworkers union and the Audubon Society, hoping to mobilize some 10 million activists over the next three years.

Paper ads kill lots of trees.  Of course, it’ll probably be recycled paper so I’m sure Gore will get a pass.  Of course, one wonders what the carbon footprint of those recycling plants are.

Oh, and the participation of the Girl Scouts makes me want to stop buying cookies.

Here’s the ad:

Anyone else find it a bit insulting that they’re comparing global warming to the fight against the Nazis and the struggle for racial equality?  We don’t even know for sure that human activity is what’s causing rising global temperatures, and for anyone to conclude that we’re facing a threat anything near as vicious as racism or Nazism is out of their gourd.

No.

It’s getting colder.

I am going to “act now” and release more carbon.

I did my part this past year by gorging a few bonfires well into the hours.

You’re all welcome! Just doing my part. I try to help out where I can.

For the benefit of socially aware and environmentally active:

Fight global cooling!
Release more carbon!
Fight global cooling!
Release more carbon!

What is he suppose to do, should he walk around and shout out his message with a megaphone? You have to change the subject because your antiquated belief that there is no global warming sounds stupid.

"Change the subject” = point out the inherently wasteful method of printing ads.

Al Gore is warning against a huge carbon footprint by making a huge carbon footprint.

It’s relevant.

Like I asked, what is he supposed to do, shout out his message with a megaphone. You would probably find fault with the guy if he read with a light on. Once again, most righties must avoid the issue of global warming. However you, likwidshoe, are a little more sane than the others when it comes to the environment.

In other shocking news, we recently learned that Al Gore breathes air.  Thus, emitting more CO2.  That hypocrite!

But, I guess everyone needs to breathe, so I will Gore a pass here.

Davinski - Once again, most righties must avoid the issue of global warming.

I support global warming.

It’s better than the alternative.

I will enlarge my carbon footprint!

Al Gore uses private Jets to spread his message, if he wanted to help the environment, he’d go coach.

And he’d also sell his home for a much smaller, more “green” home. one that is carbon neutral.

Interestingly, Al Gore has chosen to ignore any and all challenges to debate the issue, even as doing so would bring far greater attention to his crusade. It seems as though he wishes to remain center stage and preach only to the choir.

As lik points out, the alternative to hysterical prophesies of these doomsayers is much worse.
